Carolina Panthers

Did one of the linemen get Newton's arm on that throw? Looked like the ball kind of hung in the air a bit awkwardly.

Why do you not hard count that. Absurd

Because they were definitely going to have to kick it one way or another.

Kick teams also might either not work on such or possibly don't work off the same kind of count method...and at best it's still a mess because you have at least 3 players involved...it's not just a QB lined up under center.

Well obviously they had to kick it. but the only reason carolina got that call was because gano shanked it and it wasn't blocked. If you hard count you at least draw an offsides and keep chancellor from doing it again

Maybe, or he could just keep doing it, because of the amount of time left and the other side's lack of option.

Of course, this all is also presuming field goal teams work off the same type of "traditional" snap count as the rest of the offense does (rather than signals), not to mention working such a play involves the actions/timing of 3 players - separated by about 7 yards - involved with the start of the play here (rather than just the two with a hard count when it's a QB and center)...

It's also been said that it looked like he might have been going off of the snapper's hand signals rather than an actual count.
