Shula and Dorsey out!

Long overdue on the first guy. Thought Dorsey was solid, but upper management seems to think otherwise.

Offseason needs are pretty clear in my book. Receiver is a massive need. As much as I like Funchess' progression, he has not shown the tools to be a #1 receiver as evidenced by the long throw to him at the end of the game. Someone like Smitty would have fought their asses off to get that football and make a clutch catch. Maybe he can continue developing into a #1, but he's not there yet, and we need more weapons other than he, Olsen, and CMC.

O Tackle is way up the list too, and eventually, we're going to have to find a replacement for Ryan Kalil. He's no spring chicken.

I definitely think that a reliable speed receiver is the top priority. We need a bona fide guy, not some castoff or project. We need an upgrade over Stewart. Maybe Matt Kalil will be better after a year in the system, and Cameron Jordan is really good so this isn't a completely fair statement, but Kalil got destroyed Sunday. Jordan pushed him back all day long.

TE is suddenly a big need, too. Olsen is not what he once was. If we hire Norvell Turner, I'm sure TE will be addressed early.

Washington was the clear choice for DC. Hope we can pick up Brenston Buckner from Arizona. Wilks let him go.
He's a terrible radio personality, but seems like he's a good coach.

In a move that shouldn't shock anyone, Hurney has been named permanent GM. Not sure why they'd name a GM during the process of selling the team...

Hurney is a fantastic day one drafter, but was piss poor in the "championship" 3-7 rounds of the draft, where hidden gems and solid depth must be found, in order to compete for Super Bowls. Absolutely hate the hire, but I've become accustomed to moves like this. Hopefully that changes with new ownership.

I find less fault with his drafting than the contract extensions he handed out that hamstrung the team for several years. I hope he's learned his lesson, and I also think that Riverboat has more clout in those kinds of decisions this go around, which should help in that context.

And in his first move as permanent GM, he's going to franchise tag...Graham Gano. We just let a great rookie kicker (and draft pick) walk last year and we're about to lose Norwell and Star.
In regards to Marty Hurney returning, I'll quote Han Solo when he's in the trash compactor in A New Hope by saying, "I've got a bad feeling about this."

That’s a bold move Cotton

Let go of a really good GM in Gettleman, hand the keys back to Hurney. This franchise can’t get out of its own way.

It's not a done deal that he'll tag Gano, but I'd rather he be tagged than Star or Norwell. They're both about to get paid more than they're worth.

Am I crazy, or would it be a smart move to cut Ryan Kalil? His cap hit is immense. Draft Billy Price and be a real player in FA. Show the new owner we’re here to play and their investment is worth it.

Maybe he'd take a pay cut, or some other arrangement since it is his final season. I'd say Stewart is gone, Charles Johnson as well.

Cut Kurt Coleman. That’s a little bit of a surprise, but he wasn’t great this past season.

Add Charles Johnson to the cut list also. He also wasn't good this past season.

I don't mind the Worley for Torrey Smith trade. Might be able to restructure Smith's contract a little to reduce his cap hit. Worley wasn't coming along as quickly as hoped so an upgrade there wasn't out of the question, even prior to trading him.
