Can Karoline Striplin step up?

Again, thank goodness Kellie prepares her whole team to play. Striplin will step up and get better with each game, and Sara, Emily, Alexus, Horston and the Team will be there to help out.

This team has already proven they can handle adversity.

GO LADY VOLS!!!

Horrible news for Keyen. And her loss is a huge blow to the teams depth. She could come in and do more than just "hold the fort down" for Key. With Karo and Emily we may be more in the hold the fort mode when Key is off the court. We saw against GA. that Saunders came in and stopped the bleeding (sorry for the mixed metaphors) in slowing down Staiti. Saunders seems pretty good at banging down low but she can't get out and cover on the perimeter like Key or Green (Had Staiti been hitting from outside, the LVs might have had real trouble). Karoline is more mobile and she has the physique to body up, so her opportunity is knocking (loudly).

I like the LVs small ball line-up and if we are playing teams who don't have a big post presence, that could be an option.

Green's injury makes the SC game more treacherous. That is a game were Tamari could easily pick up fouls and I am not sure who else could guard Boston.

I hope the refs do what they did in the Stanford game yeah they fouled out Tamari Key but took Cameron Brinks with her lol I hope Tamari takes Boston to the bench with her lol 6’7 Cardosa doesn’t scare (well maybe a little) 😂

The scary thing with SC is that they have several nasty options to back up Boston: Cardoso, Amihere or Saxton. None of them are a good matchup for Tennessee's bench post players.

Tamari will have to be prepared to play 40 min in this one, and may need to let some things slide as to not give the refs a reason to blow the whistle.

Isn’t Amihere/Saxton Alexus Dye and Sara’s problem?

Amihere is everyone's problem. She shows up in the most random places. She could be the opposing PG, SF, PF or C.

Saxton is a 4/5 and was the backup 5 her first 2 years. She probably is better at that position than the 4. She plays bigger than 6'2.

have no problens with how refs called stanford . tight calls on both teams. could give bout teams little more freedom guard each other. call it same for both teams. on geogia game bulldogs where giving freedom to contact on vols. which to hard foul on green. seems some teams refs like more than others. south caroline & unconn are not the only picks the refs favor but they lead pack no question. karoline was rank up there with sara but she needs min. which get now but learning in sec is going be harder than non confence. with strplin seeing time at 4 & 5 maybe sanders will get a turn to.

I feel like, if need be, Sara is stout enough to give some minutes at low post. Yes, that obviously takes away her three-point threat, but I'm just saying IF Kellie gets in a bind, stick Sara in there and see if she coukd hold down the fort for a few minutes.
I agree Puckett will be called on for more minutes and we really need like Two post out of the portal for next season..

strpline will surprize some on here.

I was one of the posters who, in the pre-season run-up, predicted Striplin would be providing productive minutes by the time the SEC portion of the schedule started, and I thought she could end up being the strongest freshman this season.

Obviously my gut feeling was off, as she is taking longer than I expected to get up to speed. That said, I am NOT counting Karoline out for being able to provide productive minutes from here on out. Will she need to grow up real darn fast? Yep. Will she need to figure out how to tamp down her self-doubts and JUST PLAY HARD? Yep. Will Striplin need to watch extra film and try to carve out some extra gym time with a willing teammate or two to get some extra confidence/muscle memory-building practice of her footwork and moves? Yep.

Do I believe Karoline Striplin will do everything in her power to step up for Keyen? Oh hellllll yes!!!!

You've got this, Karo!!!!!

I know Emily does not have many fans here but I believe she will help her team. Same for Karo. I don't want to see Tamari play 35-40 minutes because that will mean we are not able to put away the opponent. While this injury is terrible for Keyen, it's also an opportunity for a couple of players to step up. Good that Kellie was able to find minutes for Emily and Karo before now.

Puckett will play inside with Karoline and Emily may see some minutes. We had already been using Sarah Puckett inside she will probably get the lead role in replacing those minutes with Burrell getting more minutes that she was getting on the perimeter. Terrible news poor Keyen's career at Tennessee so terrible she was injured so much.

Been an unlucky year for the Lady Vol with injuries makes their record look even more impressive. What we know is Emily look fairly effective in short stints of action and she can help. Karoline should be ready as well She just needs to play in the team concept and not try to make plays when she is double teamed. Jordan can play all five positions she played the five for several minutes against Georgia. Puckett is effective against players her size inside she was having difficulty handling Staiti Emily did that really well for her three minutes. We have to hope that is all the injuries for this team that is why you need so much depth at the inside positions.

We have all seen Emily having moments of outstanding play. The way she bothered Staiti, essentially shutting down that gravy train, WAS AMAZING.

I feel good about Emily stepping up to provide more minutes, too -- and think she WILL -- but Kellie will have to me really careful about the timing. Emily can fairly reliably put the ball in the hole if she gets ahold of it. Where I can see there being some problems is against those really quick teams. Emily would need (I think) to leak out a tad earlier than our other posts need to in order to get back down in time to help with defense.

Emily and Karoline need to join forces here and get some extra work in on their own.

I think she has a lot of fans pulling for her. That is different than a sober appraisal of her abilities. But she might just be the player fans are most happy to see do well. I think we are really glad to have her, especially right now.

What makes you think she has self-doubt or lacks for confidence? Sounds like maybe you are projecting your emotions about her onto her (no offense meant). From what I have seen of her on the court she looks very confident and is always willing to mix it up. She does not strike me as a shrinking violet, or overly sensitive type who gets into her own head. But maybe you have heard something I haven't.

I am eager to see more of what she can do, and Auburn may be the perfect team for her to get substantial minutes against.
