Bye Bye Cuonzo

This team has 2 wooden award watch list players (Stokes and Mcrae), 2 5 star recruits (Stokes and Hubbs), and arguably the best player/scorer in the SEC last year (Mcrae) yet we still can't run a decent offense and fall apart late in games. This clearly speaks to the fact that Cuonzo can't elevate this team to the level it should be playing at. I'm not saying Cuonzo isn't a good coach but I don't think he can coach at this level. The stage seems too big for him

The current administration and hamilton hired conzo over Marshall which we all know now was a mistake

Possible NCAA sanctions had a lot to do with the way that search turned out. If Martin is fired this year I think the hiring conditions will be a lot better.

Pearl got caught by the ncaa because the school didnt back him or give him any legal representation during the whole investigation. They wanted pearl gone, if you dont believe that then your naive

None of that matters man. Bruce Pearl lied to the NCAA. He made his own bed. He is accountable for his decisions

When the ncaa comes to investigate 99.9% of schools give their coaches legal representation by the university attorney so they can have legal advisement throughout the whole thing so they dont get caught with their pants down by the ncaa. Tennessee didnt extend bruce this courtesy, they basically pushed him out to the wolves and locked the door behind him

Fred Hoilberg at Iowa State looks promising.

He does but he is Iowa State through and through.

Marshall was passed up not just once by UT, 3 times. Could have had him over Buzz in 2001.

If a change is made, I would look at
Tad Boyle
throw the bank at Shaka Smart(won't happen)
Pitino Jr - many here will likely puke at that suggestion (young, but has started well as head coach)
Lawrence Frank( was discussed last time) not a college guy but maybe after the revolving door of the NBA, he'd consider

If Conzo doesn't makezo the tournamentzo, he is Gonzo! I'm getting tired of being tired watching our players play like they're tired! :snoring: We have the players to go deep in the tournament, we just don't have the coach!

Its a long season and all that and there is still a chance to make the tournament and keep his job. But from a pure "watchability" standpoint, these last three years have been awful. We have no offense. Our offense makes a 2-3 zone look like the Berlin Wall.

I hope the next coach at least has an exciting system. This B1G style of college hoops is just awful to watch, and doesn't work with the type of players we recruit.

Cuonzo ain't going anywhere. People are still buying tickets. On court performance has little to do with Hart letting him go. When it becomes a no brainer financially, that's when he goes.

Talk around the 19th hole is that donors are holding up on their donations and a lot are telling Hart who they want.
