Bye bye Butch - Purdue bound (message board rumor)

This thread was bumped today around the same time as his press conference and I clicked it hoping to see he's announcing his resignation and taking his coaching prowess to [insert dream job].

I'd start with ex players. There's a lot of them wanting change and not very happy either.

Most are unhappy cause they weren't good enough to play pro ball. Haynesworth was the exception and he reputation speaks for itself.

I'd say it's more about the level of play and coaching that has been the bunt of national jokes and making Tennessee look bad.

They're hungry for a winner too.

Most every ex player I've heard comment is still very supportive. We must be hearing from different players.

Really? Who are those players? Got a list?

And what does them being or not being able to play in the NFL got to do with criticizing what they see as issues going on with our program right now? I'm not following.

Well that's nifty. However, it's also the definition of a small sample size.

From the ones I personally know yes. Those connected to those 2 would be considered hearsay since I don't personally know them.

I would bet your total of 1 or 2 is substantially off.

Start with D. Clark and C. Miller.

And we know that they have this particular opinion because they are disgruntled due to not being in the NFL?

I don't think anyone is questioning that they have the opinion but whether or not this is the reason why.

Bottom line, there are a few thousand VFLs. A few vocal ones don't speak for the majority. Heck, the only ones I've seen go "public" is that small twitter exchange between players from the Dooley/Butch transition. Cool story about knowing a few alumni though. You're not the only one in that boat..

None of them were happy with the way their careers turned out in the Orange and White. Why exactly is up to speculation.

None of the ones I know of have gone "public" and wont. Thats not how they operate.

Bottom line is you pitched a bogus number thats false.

I was responding to someone who said "a lot of them are unhappy" which is simply not true. I have yet to see even one from pre-Dooley days publicly say they are unhappy. And the ones I know are quite content..

No they weren't. It is not documented anywhere except in some people's minds.

The Kurdish people would like to strongly disagree. Yes, WMDs were found there by two different elements (can't say which ones) but the media doesn't want to get into that because it kills their case against the war. I was there, I saw the INTSUM reports .. if you were and can dispute this, feel free.

Maybe because thats all that it is. I mean theres no way it could be anything else.
Say what you will. The ones I've seen speak out were buried on the depth chart and unhappy during their time here. Forgive me if I wait until those with a little more clout speak up in some sort of unified fashion.

While you are correct, it wasn't because the media withheld the information. It was because that information was classified up until a FOIA request was submitted a few years ago. If the media had the information (I'm glad they didn't), they would have happily jumped on the story.

To some degree you are correct but a story did run (which we laughed at over seas because of how they dumbed it down so much) about one element finding conventional weapons with traces of sarin gas which is classified as a WMD. Also, people tend to forget that the Kurds were gassed by Saddam about 15 years prior to the invasion. I'd like to think we are smart enough as Americans to know that he didn't exactly deplete his entire supply on the Kurdish people and not create more.

I do think a liberal media in this country would have crushed a story definitively proving their existence though.

Reader is using common sense, that's all. Some of you want to believe anything negative you hear. Remember "weapons of mass destruction", whatever happened to common sense. Sure, CBJ is probably upset that fandom is making fun of him, but he isn't going to quit over it. Would you?

And how in the world do any of you know what Butch is thinking. In the above posts it seems you can all read his thoughts!

Yep, and I thought that 'Butch to Purdue' rumor got shot down the day after it started. I remember reading Dan Wolken stating it originated from a fake twitter account. But it looks like it is still alive and kicking on VN, as rumors are want to do.
