Bye bye Butch - Purdue bound (message board rumor)

I understand this train of thought, but it doesn't always work out that way. Derek Mason, Will Muschamp, and potentially Kirby Smart are all coaches who I can think of that are great defensive minds and they let the OC do his thing. Doesn't always pay off.

Derek mason did a tremendous job this year. Will muschamp micro manages severely.njury is out on smart. I'll say this. Shoop is on another level than any defensive coordinator in college football. He has a Peyton like mind. The things he creates is mind blowing. But again, u can have Steve jobs as your CEO and all your workers are use to working on vhs tapes. Wouldn't work

Clawfence is a good example. He was micro managed and had none of his people. He goes everywhere else and succeeds. That's because he has his guys and they all understand.

By micromanaged are we talking game plan, staff, play calls, scheme, all of the above?

In my business they call this a clue.

So we persuade Shoop to stay as DC, give him the freedom to bring in the assistants he wants, let DeBord retire, hire Helfrich as OC before someone else scoops him up-- and we'll be set next year if CBJ leaves. Sounds like a plan.

A point missed by many and similar to our DC this year.

The head coach can over ride any play they want. They can also tell you to run or pass when ever they want. Smart head coaches just sit back and let their man do the job, controlling coaches will have an input on everything which messes up the flow of the game. Offensive minded coaches have their own scheme typically. This is why micromanaging in any business is not successful, people can't reach full potential

Helfrich is buddies with Chris Petersen and is rumored to be headed to UW, so you better hurry up and grab him.

Shoop was not going to be here next year anyways, his buyout he owes Penn State is in the way. He may have signed a 3 year deal but it was a one and done on purpose. Wait till everyone sees all the crapt that is about to come out. Be prepared to shake your head.

Coach fulmer was a great and fun head coach. As he got older though he didn't adapt to the game. He still had the older mind set. Clawson ran an uptempo offense,'one of the first, and fulmer didn't really like it because it was out of his comfort zones, so what you saw was a Randy sanders offense. Randy sanders offense works when you have tremendous talent, now take away all that talent and insert clawson who isn't allowed to have free rein, and u have an offense that doesn't work.

Mason is at a place with a lower ceiling than the other 2. He had very good year considering where they were in Sept.

It would look bad on Jones. Not Tennessee. Anyone with half a brain knows Purdue is a major step down from Tennessee. It would just show he knows he can't get it done here

If this did happen it would be because Jones knows his days are numbered at Tn. One more year at the most, and would be harder for him to get a job if fired, than if he left on his own.

Pretty obvious...
