This truly is fake news.
Butch never said anything about last year.
The dude who wrote this internet blog completely misunderstood, and is now dragging most of the people in this thread along with him in his stupidity.
Here is, verbatim, the question asked and what Butch actually said in response (you'll notice he never mentions, or even alludes to, last year):
Already discussed this in the thread about the press conference (Butch Press Conference today -- Mon, 11 Sep). All you had to do was look there before posting, OP, and you'd have known this is a red herring.
Yah - I just watched this (question is in the last part of the video). There is no question that CBJ is indeed dodging the question. I have seen politicians do it ALL the time and its the same tactic. His barely concealed smile when the question is asked and then he sort of affirms the question (typical mental stalling technique to come up with answer) then he begins rambling on the importance of communications when lining up against non-traditional offenses. Whole point of that was to bury that question. There is absolutely NO CHANCE Butch isnt well aware of how far they were off the line these last 2 games - and it was intentional.
This week I think we will see Shoops real defense package and we will get a real look at what we have (even tho Gators are weak). I think they consider themselves thin on D and were not willing to risk much with injuries in 2 non-conference games and end up where they were last year. I think everyone of those coaches has the SEC-E firmly in their sights. Will we get there? Dunno but we wont have failed because we are going to be lining up 5 feet off the LOS in SEC play (games that matter for SECE).
