A redneck by loose definition is derogatory. I wouldn't call anyone successful a redneck.

So what makes them fake? Because their fishin' boat is more shiny and goes faster? Or the truck they take on hunting trips can do better off road?

And I kept going on and on?

I said:
1) It's in the middle of no where (can't really dispute that and it's a preference thing)
2) I can't stand their fans at sporting events but they're passionate.
3) Thicker accents.
4) Don't like the location (in relation to the mall and Knoxville)

Nothing really completely fiction or overly offensive.

It's completely fiction that it's somehow overrun with rednecks, as you did insinuate, saying you can only tolerate them to a certain degree. Also, don't forget that you felt the need to mock how it's pronounced by all the thousands of rednecks up there. Not sure how I was supposed to take all that as simply a joke, but okay.

I don't normally hang out in bars. I could see us doing a Buffalo Wild Wings or something like that. I have a friend at the Northgate BWW...
Normally, hang out at friends house/man cave when I'm not too busy working or in Knoxville for the games...

i hear you there. i don't get out as much as i would like to. i am helping to raise my neice right now and she was kind of thrust into our lives last year. needless to say i could sneak away from diaper duty to go have some beers wherever. i have not been to bww in a long time. but i like the idea of a lot of big screens.

That's how 95% of people in the Chattanooga area pronounce it. I wasn't referring to how they pronounce. It - it's how I pronounce it somewhat as well.

I don't think I know anyone who actually pronounces Ooltewah correctly. Usually people leave out that "l" sound.

And since when does "some" = overrun with rednecks? I said I couldn't stand some of the people there.

You didn't but you did say you would prefer Soddy > Signal/Ooltewah. But that's far closer to the "Mcneighborhoods" or whatever you called them than the 60 acres of land.

Yeah, that's what I said. Who care's if it's closer. MR and Riverside look nothing like what you'll typically find in Ooltewah.

it was a valid argument on both sides. heated at times, but understandable. back to the meeting up for beers vs. kentucky. if the game is at 1:00 like i believe it is i won't be able to make it. any other days that may work with your schedule? i put the kid to bed at around 7:45-8 most days. so any day after that said approx. time will work great. dude are you in, or have you been reading me and dupree's side conversation?

I'd live on Missionary Ridge or somewhere off Riverside downtown over those places.

And I'd love to live somewhere downtown as well even if it meant being cramped or no yard. But I don't see much more incentive to live in MR from where I am now other than the fact of its history.

Aww, man. Why was I thinking that game was at night ?
It doesn't really matter to me on the weekend. I'm going to be working and staying out of town during the week, most likely for a while...

No - I live in Ooltewah currently. Born and raised (mostly) in Knoxville so just left it as Knoxville.

For now that has been the trend. But it is random, at any given time things change...

Grew up on the side of Missionary Ridge. Lived in Red Bank, Hixson, and Harrison. Have gone to church in East Brainerd all my life. Too many friends to count in Ooltewah including a sister that lives there, and knew it back when there were two gas stations and a Red Food Store.

Soddy Daisy is pronounced just like that.....soddy daisy (no saw, just soddy). Ooltewah is prounounced Ootewah (the L is silent). And Chattanooga is pronounced Chattahnooga (not chatt-en-nooga). Threw that one in there cause imports still can't pronounce it.

I'm 42 and I'm pretty sure I trump all of you in years of pronouncing these areas. :)

Says who? I've lived here quite awhile now and everyone admits to saying it wrong, but we do it anyway. I'm going to need some official documentation.

And yes it is Soddy, but I find it hilarious when people say Sawdy Daisy.
