Buddy Green

All this talk about a "spalsh" hire... "Splashes" are ephemeral. Yeah from the get-go we generate waves but those waves diminish rapidly.

Personally, I would rather have someone with a sound track record of motivating, cultivating, and teaching. Those are the aspects the leave lasting impressions on fanbases, recruits, and current players long after the waves of the splash are forgotten.

This guy is still very much in play for one of the remaining openings IMO.

You said it all when you said he's a jouneyman. Imo, he is a journeyman because he is just good enough to find jobs, but not good enough to keep or get elite jobs. jmo.

You must've missed the part where he's been at Navy for the past 10 seasons...

You don't stay at a place that long without doing something right. And I would bet just about anything that he's had opportunities to go other places more flashy than Navy in the past.

We all have inside connections like opinions it seems and they usually don't know anything. With that being said this what mine just told me and he has known absolutely nothing in this DC search until now.

Buddy Green was interviewed as a potential position coach and not as a DC candidate.

He didn't know any specifics about what position but as I stated before this might mean TJ moves over to TE/ST.

Just connected the dots. Expect Green to be named as a secondary coach sharing duties with TJ. One will coach the safeties and one corners. JMO based on what I was told and VQ reporting that having 2 secondary coaches was a possibility.

Hes a 3-4 guy. im not sure thats what we need with the guys we currently have. If we get him, its FORSURE hit or miss. I still prefer Sal Sunseri

This is another piece of the puzzle that tells me Green will be a member of the staff.

On a related note did the panthers run a 3-4 when Sunseri was there?

Rarely if ever.

They had Julius Peppers and Kris Jenkins, so they didn't really want them eating blocks

I remember Green well at Chattanooga. His teams tried to outscore everyone... and were usually pretty awful on D.

Per Pete Rozzell...former NFL commish!

For those not following along, Buddy is currently the defensive coordinator for Navy. And he was at UT-Chattanooga as a head coach for several years. He runs an interesting 2-4-5 base defense at Navy.

IMO he is being considered for a postion opening, not DC

Dont want. Would rather have Sunseri if this is our only options.

Come on, Jackon... you need a second monitor. It's been on the ticker you posted earlier for a while now. :hi:

He doesn't run a 2-4-5 defense at Navy. He runs a 3-4. He used a 2-4-5 defense against Missouri in the Texas Bowl in 2009.

He used that defense against Missouri to counter their spread offense, which worked and led to a Navy win.

Interesting. Rozelle has been dead since the mid-90's. If he and God are close then he is likely to know all that is going on with the search.
