Here we go again... Having to pick on a kid that I like and believe will become a great RB.

Look inside BB's numbers and you'll find that the vast majority of his success came against lesser opponents or after games were decided. He was not highly effective with the game on the line. He was under 4 ypc vs teams with a winning record and SEC teams.

He went over 50 yards in a game 4 times: WKU, Ohio, USCjr, and Memphis. Those 4 games also accounted for 265 of his 460 total yards. WKU alone was almost 1/4 of his yds.

I want him to become a UT great. But he didn't prove that he was or would be last fall.

I've got no problem with what BB did as a true Frosh for the Vols under any circumstances. Most Frosh never see the field, for good reason. Moreover, he did that behind a questionable O-line ... and with a hip injury.

His yardage totals were limited, appropriately, by his number of carries and by the presence of a first round NFL back. The average yards per carry are lower versus better defenses. That's football.

BB will be fine. Stick around and see (hopefully!). I think Rogers will be as well, but I don't think he'll put up impressive numbers as a Frosh. I'd be happy to come back and compare the two.

BB is the best recruit Dooley can get on his resume. And, again, it's a shame that in 'explaining' that he could come back to the team, that he wasn't able to convince (recruit) him the first time.

If this situation is playing out like certain people on here claim it is, it's going to be a win for everyone involved. BB seemed like he was having adjustment issues last year in all facets of his life, not just football. To me, it seems like he thought it over, probably got worked over a little by his teammates and coaches, grew up and realized that he should stay. Bringing his brother here and having him around might help both of them cope better on and off the field.
It also could have been BB's ultimatum to coach DD for him to stay. The only people who know that are the Browns and DD.
Either way, I'm over this whole situation. If he stays, great. If he leaves, bfd.

I agree that it is win-win all the way around.

It seems that the way DD handled it regardless of what you call it leaves the player-coach relationship intact. Had he pursued him, called him all the time, tried to buddy up to him, or, worse, made a bunch of promises then it would have been a problem.

I doubt you would have to spend much time convincing anyone who happened to be the HC of the current UT football team that he wants BB's brother.

Those are all valid points. I hope it turns out that CDD played his cards perfectly.

As much as I criticize him, I don't think any HFC in the history of UT football has faced a tougher leadership challenge than the one he accepted. If he pulls it off and turns the program around, he'll have to be everything Nick Saban and Urban Meyer wishes they were. He'll have to be like General Neyland.

He was backing up Montario Hardesty, of course he didn't get big numbers in big games because he wasn't playing

There is a difference in the role CLK and O played at USC and the one Dooley played at LSU. The press is all over that.

The main point is... I don't care to defend Kiffin, but you know the above is true, so just be honest with yourself.

This is so asinine it isn't even funny. It wasn't just "Carrol, Kiffin and Orgeron" at USC. Have you ever heard of the names Chow and Sarkisian? They payed very large roles at USC in case you haven't heard.

In contrast, name one Saban assistant at LSU that is a head coach other than CDD or who commands the attention as an assistant that Chow does (and don't try Muschamp or Smart because, while respected, they come nowhere close to Norm Chow, who is a freaking legend).

Norm Chow made the USC offense and it has slowly eroded after his departure (much like UT's after Cutcliffe left in 1999). In fact, USC looks a lot like UT right now, just 10 years later.

On 104.5 radio in Nashville they said Chaney was also part of the meeting. Said his brother was originally a 4 star recruit but had trouble adjusting at Miami and could only play special teams. Don't know if trying to downplay his ability to play college ball is true or not.

Both brothers were 5 star recruits.

Arthur was the #1 LB in the country according to both Scout and Tom Lemming's rankings. Rivals had him as the #2 LB.

transferring to K-state is like a bright Harvard student permanently transferring to a local community college. I hope someone talk some sense into him. why sit out a year when you can make millions in 2-3 years?

I don't really care what happens, I am just glad we have something interesting to talk about.

It has been dead around here.
