Fair enough, I guess. Just seems like a total attention whore, which he is, to go out when he did and with that kind of production. It isn't really a surprise. Like you said, he's a showman of the highest order. A spectacle was to be expected.

Why wouldn't someone have been excited? Granted, he was no sure thing. Then again, only a handful are, if that. That last year at UCF was highly abnormal. It's a testament to Heupel that he had as many wins as he had.

I understand wanting to retire with a lot of money at 65....but LOL to retire to run for Senate and force Auburn to name your son on staff as the interim is an all time classic move. Only in Alabama...

No, local news stations here have confirmed any run for a political office in the state. The Auburn AD said he will have an advisory position with the athletic dept. How long that lasts who knows.

Probably not as long as Bruce’s run as the VP position in sales for HT Hackney after he was blown out by UT.

He doesn't have to be elected to the job Auburn gave him. I suspect his chances of winning a Senate seat in Alabama are pretty slim.

Local sports news here said that Pearl would remain at AU in an administrative capacity. I know that doesn't say anything except that he is not leaving Auburn at least for now.

The relationship between Bruce and Auburn is going to get really awkward if and when Auburn fires Stephen.

Let’s not kid ourselves…Bruce was a pretty damn good basketball coach too.

Fortunately, we currently have own of those ourselves at UT, and I would bet good money that CRB will bow out very modestly when he retires. Without judging others, I’ll just say that I greatly appreciate the quiet strength from Coach Barnes. The kind of coach you want your son to play for.
