Imagine that. The situation sucks for all involved. Brooks felt he was coming to a school that had coaches he believed in. I'm sure Brooks felt the Pruitt staff was his ticket to the NFL. Tennessee spent a lot of time, energy and (knowing Pruitt) probably a lot of money on the recruit. In the end, you have to look to those with great success and see how they approach similar issues. As pointed out in the article, the restrictions placed on Brooks are par for the course with SEC transfers, namely Saban's. The kids being recruited need to understand coaching changes are real and they affect many schools on an annual basis. It would be wise of players to be conscious of this when accepting an offer.
Letting all of these kids break commitments is not teaching them any kind of responsibility. The transfer portal is not a good thing in my opinion.
I'd rather see everyone who picked Tennessee because they were paid by Cornbread and his Staff just leave and as quickly as possible.
If you are going to compare them to "workers" then they should allow to unionize and get paid. I don't think that is a sound comparison in my opinion. We just need to do what everyone else does, if others SEC schools don't let a signee out of their commitment without conditions, then neither should we. If we don't get the benefit then we should not give the benefit. That was the same motto for the inter-conference transfer rule, so should be our position now.I loved my CEO. He was a great guy. He passed away unexpectedly and the new guy absolutely sucked. I found a better job.
Yeah, that's exactly how life works.
I get it that players commit to a coach and all that. But Pruitt was a terrible head coach. Our team actually digressed under him. I was more shocked that these 4 star players were willing to sign up for an underperforming coach. I personally think at least on paper we upgraded the head coaching position. When you throw in the improper benefits, it makes you wonder about all the ones leaving. I think if it is proven a student athlete took money, their eligibility should end right there.
