Why don't kids commit to coaches then? Stop saying committed to UT (or whoever) and start announcing on social media they committed to a coach.
This is such a petty complaint.

What is UT? A group of buildings? A GPS coordinate? What does this even mean?

A place is a function of the people you are going to be spending a tremendous amount of time with. Plenty of people love or hate working at a job because of the people around them even more than the job itself. Is there something wrong with that? No.

Would be great to start adding a few d*mn players!!
Hopefully all those who are here because they were paid will get the hell out. UT needs players for sure that want to play for Tennessee without the need for financial inducement.

Letting all of these kids break commitments is not teaching them any kind of responsibility. The transfer portal is not a good thing in my opinion.
Coaches can leave anytime. We were hoping to bring in Conklin a few days before his season began.

The one time transfer rule is likely to happen. He wish it weren’t.

For those that have walked The Hill and spent years building their future and making relationships that last a lifetime, I’d say the University of Tennessee is much more than a bunch of buildings. In large part, it’s the people that make a Univ., not the concrete or dirt.

The situation sucks for all involved. Brooks felt he was coming to a school that had coaches he believed in. I'm sure Brooks felt the Pruitt staff was his ticket to the NFL. Tennessee spent a lot of time, energy and (knowing Pruitt) probably a lot of money on the recruit. In the end, you have to look to those with great success and see how they approach similar issues. As pointed out in the article, the restrictions placed on Brooks are par for the course with SEC transfers, namely Saban's. The kids being recruited need to understand coaching changes are real and they affect many schools on an annual basis. It would be wise of players to be conscious of this when accepting an offer.
Or he may have wanted to come to UT for the special McDonalds bags;)

Recruiting class has dropped to 19th on 247. What a difference a few months can make, remember when we had the #1 class in the nation.
Does it really matter at this point? This was always going to be a scorched earth situation. Class rank means diddly. It was always going to be a case of doing more with less for whomever got the job. Recruiting won't be what it was or can be until we show a good product on the field and the NCAA gets of their collective keesters and reveals what our punishment is going to be. I have zero expectations in recruiting and a won/loss record until at least year 3 of Heupel's tenure.

I understand the sentiment that they signed with the school, but in reality they signed with the coach with talk of how they would fit into his plans and those plans have changed with the change in coaches.

So, I do honestly think that the kid should be released with no questions asked, I hate it that he is leaving, but I don't think it's fair to expect him to stay when the person who talked to him and sold him on a vision is gone along with that vision.

So good luck to Mr. Brooks and I wish him well.

This transfer portal BS is really enforcing the “safe space” ideology. Don’t get me wrong. I don’t want the kid on the Hill if he doesn’t want to be on the Hill. But in all reality, this is teaching our kids to run away from a situation that they don’t find favorable. Is that what they will continue to do all of their lives or will they ever learn to stand up and face a challenge head on? What if their future boss retires or takes another job. Will they quit too because they loved their boss and really wanted to work for him/her their entire lives? Poor babies.

Condition on the release?

Is there a condition on where the coaches can go?

I have a tendency to agree with you. However, other schools do this. Alabama and Nick Saban do it all the time, so if they are doing it then UT must do it or be at a competitive disadvantage. Let's all play by the same rules which should also be what is in the best interest of the student-athlete. Again, we will be vilified on social media and Bama gets another pass.

Title of this thread should read unconditionally released. The article is pretty clear on that point, once you read it.

As for the reporter who publishes an article with a title that contradicts his own report...well...this fella is known to be less than capable as a journalist. No surprise his write-up is causing more confusion than clarity.

Got no problem with it. If he doesn't want to be here, then he doesn't need to be here. He can kick rocks at another school for all I care. Why any of these recruits are bitter about not playing for Pruitt is beyond me. Could they not see how bad Pruitt sucked as a coach and that we absolutely upgraded our staff?

Count your blessings .. I remember when we were ranked high .. we had alot of 3 stars .. I said we be lucky to stay in top 15 by the time all is done .. I got ripped on here for being negative .. it was factual .. I say we lucky to be at 19 with all that has happened .
