Brilliant to have a 26% 3 point shooter fire it up with the game on the line…

Funniest thing about this thread is out of all the defenders of the play NOT ONE said “I thought the shot was going in“. Why? Because when it left JJJ’s hand you all knew it wasn’t.

WRONG
3 out of 4 misses is 25%, JJJ has hit 68 of 199= 34.17%
In 20/21 the NCCAA as a whole was under 34% shooting 3's
He is basically on average for every player in the country and he was trending hot hand last few games.
That's what teams do, they go with who has been knocking them down lately and he had just hit 2 big 3's earlier in comeback or we are not even in a scenario to win on the last shot. Facts. Our best shooter Santi was trending badly in this game 0 for 5.
Sorry I was reacting to the thread title, sorry he misses that shot 68% of the time.....much better

James was the wrong guy taking a game winning/losing 3 pointer. Befuddled Chandler wasn't in the game. Bailey was also open who I didn't want taking it but Vescovi broke open at the end. Just because you hit a couple of clutch 3 pointers early don't mean it's the right strategy. He still shoots 26%.

So you wanted the ball to go to a guy who was 0-5 instead of the guy that had gone 2-4? Another second on the clock and maybe JJJ feed Santi? Never know. You are using an internal clock and we had overpassed several times in late clock situations and got ziltch off.

Scoring in six seconds from the opposite end is a low odds proposition any way you slice it. It’s going to be very hard to design options better than the ones that existed in that play. The way the defense played, ZZ did absolutely the right thing.
