He had a chance. 17 of them. And still couldn’t do better than his predecessor.
As a titans fan that man shoulda got a 10 yr extension.

The Texans continue to find ways to self-implode. Fair or not, they will also have to deal with the blowback from firing a minority coach.

I’m thinking they never wanted Culley to begin with, and he was just to gap the bridge while they worked on the Watson situation.

Bad example, Vrabel is the exception, not the norm.

I'm just going by his criteria; I'm sure there are plenty of coaches hired that didn't do as good as their predecessor and didn't get fired after 1 season.

4 win vs 4 wins. Your record speaks for itself. There's no asterisks for "without Watson".

What would the asterisk be for exactly? We're judging his performance as a coach and 4 wins usually means you get a 2nd year with the context that you took over a terrible fkn team.

It's absolutely the norm to have a low win total your first year. Bill B was 5-11 his first year in NE. Parcells was 3-13 his first year. Jimmy Johnson had 1 win. Bill Walsh won 2 games. And so on.
