BJ Coleman (Merged)

Everyone has their own opinions. I think this points to bleak times for the Vols. I'm losing confidence in this coaching staff. My opinion and I know not everyone is going to share it. Too many stupid moves since Kiffin was hired for me to have any confidence in them going forward.
lol...

I am telling you that this has to do with recruiting. As stupid and insane as this sounds, that is the reason.

Kiffin is going to ride out Crompton for a year and play a true freshman next year. A HUGE gamble.

With Stephens and Rozier walking on he feels that he can get through the season and then will rely on a true feshman to lead the team.

I dont agree. Why would an elite high school qb be scared off by a sophmore 3rd stringer? it has nothing to do with it. This was BJ thinking he needs a fresh start. Duke anyone?

He isn't Juco. He is like Chris Weinke from FSU - he played baseball for 5 years out of High School, and washed out. So now he is coming back to play football.

I am not sure if he is taking up a scholarship or not. I heard he was a walk-on at first, but then later I was hearing that he is taking up a scholarship, but the Red Sox are paying for it.

Except probably a considerably worse QB than Weinke.

He clearly knew there was nothing he could do to start, so he's going somewhere he can be productive with playing time.

C'mon man... it's only going to be one season... Kiffin's first season. It's not like we were going to be contenders for the SEC title next year. It's a rebuilding year.

JC is a freakin SAD SACK!!!!! He should be the one leaving. 5 yrs and STILL can't get it right. He should change his name to Jonathan "Can't Get Right" Crompton. Man, I'm pissed. God I pray Stephens heals right, cause we gonna need him. I guess CLK hasn't watched any film of last years games with "Can't Get Right" behind center!!!! Gotta be kiddin me.

Sucks. About 300,000 chattanoogans are pissed.

What's the big deal people? Coleman wasn't good enough to start under three OCs. Do you think they all had it wrong? Stephens will start this year, they will sign two top rated QB's that will compete for the starting job next year and one of them or both of them will perform better than anything we saw last year or will see this year. BOOK IT!

They can deal...I never liked the Chattanooga propaganda on him...you would think that he was all-world and a Heisman competitor to hear them talk him up coming out of high school. BJ could be a fine QB in time, I'm sure, but they always blew him out of proportion, no doubt about it.

I will say that he really did seem to be a natural leader and a good kid - those aspects will be missed by the team, particularly if he had ever developed well enough to lead the team on the field as well (which probably wasn't going to happen, particularly if Kiffin and Co. recruit as they hope to).

The quicker we all come to grips with this reality, the easier it will be for us to deal with the upcoming season.

i cant believe this, shame on you coleman for leaving us with crompton as the starter, you know you are better than him you just need to show some freakin DEDICATION to your team and your teammates. but if he is this selfish, im glad he is gone, we dont need me players on this team we need WE players. its a shame though, i think he was definitely our best shot at having a consistent starter.

and whats this bullcrap about "i didnt quit", of course you quit, if you voluntarily left, you quit...its a shame is isnt a competitor

really? which stupid moves do you speak of? securing a top 10 class with the number 1 player in the country, assembling a ridiculously stacked coaching staff, or putting tennessee on tv literally every single day?

All competitors think they are the best. That's why they compete. Competitors don't like to even loose at checkers. I understand BJ's pain. Was he given the snaps wih the 1st team to show his worth? Fulmer and Kiffin didn't see it in him. Not to say they are wrong. I'm upset because we are really thin now at QB. I know the staff is working on Heaps, but we can't hang our hat on the kid. There are plenty of quality QB's out there that want to play for UT. I just hope we don't let them slip away.

I see what Sab is saying, but it might be a little too strong. Losing confidence is a bit much, but questioning some of the moves, yes.

I still support the coaching staff and I think they have a plan. They have done nothing all year without a plan. We may not know why, but there is a reason they are willing to let this happen.

I believe when Jake Heaps or Scroggins commit to UT no one will care about Coleman anymore.

To be fair, he's probably talking about the Tahj Boyd and Brice Petty decisions...

I don't think it matters right now...
