BJ Coleman (Merged)

It sucks he left.
Which means we will depend on Crompton yet again.

Yeah... and interestingly enough, a guy whose coaching future and current $2 million/year job depends on it is OK with him. I wonder if he knows something the good folks here don't?

I agree with what a previous poster said.
He wasnt gonna be good enough to cut it so he took the easy way out.

I see what Sab is saying, but it might be a little too strong. Losing confidence is a bit much, but questioning some of the moves, yes.

I still support the coaching staff and I think they have a plan. They have done nothing all year without a plan. We may not know why, but there is a reason they are willing to let this happen.

I believe when Jake Heaps or Scroggins commit to UT no one will care about Coleman anymore.

That's the problem. We HOPE we can get Heaps or Scroggins. We may have to SETTLE for Mason, Nance, Christian Green or Munchie Legaux. Not to say those kids aren't good, just we may need 2-3 QB's this next class.

As much as i hate to say it, i really think the staff wants Crompton to be the starter regardless. I like BJ and hate to see him go. I think this is a move by the staff to pull in Heaps or another top QB for next year. It didn't take a brain surgeon to see he was better than Crompton. JMO

When a QB quits the team, what happens to his pocket presents...maybe Coleman will give them to Crompton before he leaves.

And assuming any of those guys are going to be ready to play their freshman year is assuming too much. Sometimes you can ruin a kid's confidence by starting him too early.

really? which stupid moves do you speak of? securing a top 10 class with the number 1 player in the country, assembling a ridiculously stacked coaching staff, or putting tennessee on tv literally every single day?

No... disagreeing with Sab about the QB position... recruiting and depth chart.

Obviously this does stink but I kind of saw this coming when Mike Rozier was coming to Tennessee this fall. Good luck to BJ.

How's Tusculum or Carson Newman's QB situation?? Do they need a former UT quitter?? maybe h could go there and not have to sit out a year.

It definitely does that. I hope we hear more of the story here. It certainly sounds to me almost like BJ was told to leave. I just have issues with that. He is a good kid. Never had any issues whatsoever.

I know you're upset about this Sab, and I think it does hurt us from a depth standpoint. I just disagree with you on the situation. Every year, a few quarterbacks are going to be told that they aren't the one. Now whether Kiffin told him he would never start is pure speculation.

It looks like he wanted to start somewhere, and start this year (hence the comment about losing another year of eligibility). Regardless of whether he's a good kid or not, if he was told he wasn't going to start he had 2 options... 1) ride the pine and wait for his chance, or 2) transfer somewhere where he is guaranteed. He chose the latter.

He did what was best for him, and I wish him the best. Lets move on

If his highlights are any indication I'd gladly "settle" for Mason.
