BJ Coleman (Merged)

Sorry guys. Coleman just doesn't have the arm strength to run the offense. If you were at the game this would have been apparent, no matter how much you're in the guy's jock.

I was at the game and no he doesn't have the most arm strength. What he does have is leadership and let's think about this how many times will we ever need him to go 50 yards in the air. What he can do is lead us and get the balls to the receivers in the medium and short routs and let me tell you he has plenty of arm for the slant and the out patterns. Couple that with some good play action and mixing in even 3 and 4 yard runs and we will be just fine. CSS and “the Cocks” took us to school a few years ago with those simple plays. I believe what CLK is having a problem with is naming him as "THE GUY" with so little game time. If we are to turn this thing around BJ Coleman is our guy. We don’t have to be looking deep on ever pass and expect our QB to be able to hit the bomb on every pass. What we do expect is our QB to have is the leadership and respect and the confidence of the O.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" /><o:p></o:p>

Couldn't agree more. I'm sick of all the "he doesn't have a good enough arm."

Stephens/Crompton "do not have good enough brains."

I hope you are right!:pepper:

It would be hard to pull in a good QB in this recruiting class with a sophomore starter too.

understandable where your coming from, but I disagree. I think good talent believes they can come in and beat out anyone. Plus Kiffin will build reputation of giving incoming freshman the opportunity to start right away. The "seniority" rule is gone. It will likely be a new depth chart each August.

Any UT qb seems to get 90% of the blame when I've seen a ton qb's with average ability (Bama for instance) win n/c. Our entire team is average at best and thats's probably the way it will be for 2-3 years, of course I hope I'm 100% wrong, that's just my take. It just proves how far the program has been allowed to sink.

I think part of that is b/c Fulmer's offense was 90% QB dependent. He didn't have anything designed outside his mold. Fulmer's offense looked great with Manning, when T picked it up, when Clausen clicked, and when Ainge was on.

only one time do I remember Fulmer and co. successfully designing a game plan around a QB that wasn't good (Florida 2000), but then he never did it again.

I forgot to add that I think Coleman isn't very good.

I believe he'll be the smartest with the ball out of the three. We'll see where that gets him.

I don't think Stephens is very good, in any part of the game.

Can you name a current UT quarterback who is 'very good'? That's the issue everyone has.

BJ had a good spring. Good for him. Good for us. But, that's a long ways from earning trust as the starting QB.

From what I understand, his injury is still hampering him. He didn't look good on Saturday at all.

The hope that his injury is keeping him from being the man is hopeless. I don't think the injury is holding back as much as some think.

He was initially out all spring. I'd say the injury was a factor.

The injury was certainly a factor. I just mean that Stepehns is still 3rd w/o the injury.
