Cornbread.

You can get a bad biscuit. It can be too floury and thick making it almost inedible without a full drink to aide in swallowing.

Don't get me wrong, you can get poorly made cornbread, but I don't think you can cornbread that doesn't at least taste fine.

You are right about that:cool: My ex mother in law made biscuits that were like hockey pucks:D:eek::rolleyes:

Peanut butter syrup on a hot buttered biscuit is hard to beat. So is real butter on a warm piece of cornbread. I wouldn't ever turn down either.

Damn...I'm hungry!

GBO!!!

I have never had or even heard of peanut butter syrup. I now have something I'm going to have to try.

I like biscuits and sausage gravy and I like to eat white cornbread with sliced ripe tomatoes, sliced onion and slow cooked pinto beans with pork fatback.

Biscuits with sausage gravy, eggs, bacon, fresh churned butter was the breakfast of champions when I was a kid. Fresh milk to go with it.

I make a "Mediterranean" cornbread with fire-roasted red peppers, Parmesan and Romano cheeses. The top is covered with roasted sesame seeds. Its a variation on skillet cornbread. The last time I made it, I served it with a dish of cannellini, pancetta, and baby greens (kale, chard, arugula, and spinach).
