Hey, I need to give a praise to Caldwell on the time out situation last night. The fact that she had some left at the end, and that Auriemma kinda got in a pinch with his at the end, certainly made me feel like we had an advantage there.
But our biggest advantage was that our team played to win and NEVER appeared to me to have wavered from that mindset. Nobody looked tentative or hesitant or had scared/worried body language or facial expressions. It may have been since 1998 that I saw that in a LV team for 40.
And NOOOOO. I am not comparing this team to that 1998 squad. lol But I am saying that they somehow managed to have that same resolve and belief, and it was beautiful to see.
Connecticut is a really, REALLY good team, and this loss very well could be exactly what they needed to go on and win another natty, or at least reach another FF. I hope not, but we of all people should understand that sometimes heartbreaking losses can spur future greatness.
But yesterday belonged to the Tennessee Lady Vols. I'm so proud of them and happy for them.
P.S. Eff Ryan Ruoco, who must have mention how long it had been since Tennessee had beaten them 50 times. It screamed to me that his pre-game preparation work was likely all geared toward him thinking CT would win, so he probably had lots and lots of complimentary info planned to say about the Huskies, and little planned for Tennessee, and so he was a broken record.
