And the lanes in the kicking game....open as well, the returners just didn't see them.

I think the only thing that Cal didn't see was our team since we were 35 points ahead of them before they showed up.

The holes were open for Lynch, too....He just didn't see them.

Actually not true, the oline was raw and new for your game. Lynch still avg over 5 yards a carry in the first half. We replaced 3 starters who were all drafted in the nfl (2 are now starting). We return 2 all first team pac-10 olineman and 2 others that saw significant playing time.

I saw our receivers running wide open clearly from the 100th row or whatever it was. Many other did as well. Nate didn't miss these guys later in the season. Nor will he miss them at home in the opener.

Since you are so good at forseeing the future, can you tell me the Powerball numbers? :p

ok well hit every time then. Or picked off. That's just the first half, we played backups the whole second half

he had one INT. you played backups midway into the 3rd quarter. You wont hear me argue we didn't suck, trust me.

That would be nice. You guys think i'm flaming tenn but really that's not true. I just think Cal couldn't possibly play as poorly as we did last year. Certainly not on offense. We have the experience at oline, secondary, and QB that we didn't have last year. That is my point. With our dline unproven you oline could dominate. . . but our linebacking core returns a lot of top talent and we only have one spot to fill in the secondary.

I do not think you are flamin at all. You are just doing what everyone of us is guilty of, hoping their team lives up our expectations. I just wanted the numbers.......

Cheers..... :clapping:

What was the other Tennessee TD attributed to against him? Was that not him on the 2nd play of the 2nd half?

He went for a deflection on one of Meachem's TDs and just arrived late. Meachem went untouched after he caught it. The broken hand had nothing to do with arriving late.

yeah he went for the pick. in high school he would have had it, that's what lack of experience does for you.

You know I like you, but I hear way way way too many excuses from your fanbase, and sometimes you. Erik Ainge was coming off a season where he looked worse than you or me out there.

We had more question marks coming in than Cal did.

Was that really an excuse? It was what it was . . . a DB making a break on a ball he thought he could get and not getting there.

I hear ya, but I do feel our inexperience at key positions is what put us in the situation to get blown out. Obviously many of our experienced guys didn't show up as well. If nate didn't get injured in 05 and mixon didn't go out for the season right before your game, i do believe the game would have been significantly closer. It's all speculation of course.

It is what happened. However, I have yet to see a Cal fan say "Tennessee was flat out BETTER than Cal."

on that day they certainly were. what you will not hear me say is what i many times hear on this board. which is the score was entirely due to some percieved talent gap between the two programs.

It was a mix of talent and experience that won the game.

Don't be too quick to throw out wagers like that. Teddy Ginn Jr was supposed to be a CB in college. He was put at receiver because he was faster than Michael Jenkins and Santonio Holmes (2 1st round picks).

Point being, Berry will be faster than any WR on our roster. There is going to be an opportunity for him to play alot. With the way Evans and Johnson looked in the O&W game (pretty good) the coaches would be idiots to keep him off the field. (Oxymoron I know)

I doubt he'll be faster than Brent Vinson. I'm almost certain Kenny O'Neal is faster.

fair enough. I just think that cal has the advantage on experience this time around. and our talent isn't exaclty mountain west material despite what hatvol will lead you to believe. edit: i'm not saying Cal's talent is superior to tenn, btw, just comparable.

Who knows? I'm in agreement with you on Vinson and O'Neal, but I'm not breaking out the anointing oils yet for any of these guys, just showing an example of a guy predicted to play one place and wound up somewhere else.

At TB (but it's unproven) and maybe DB but not anywhere else.

I understand you point. WR is a huge need, so if Berry can play that position well, he has an excellent chance of seeing the field. However, I think DB is just as big of a need.

I think our WR unit will be OK next year. Kenny O'Neal could be our main guy. Current Vols Austin Rogers, Lucas Taylor, and Quentin Hancock will be all be contributors. Brent Vinson and Gerald Jones should see plenty of PT, too.
