Selling their food stamps at 50% on the dollar to help subsidize higher education. They must be very caring people, to go hungry in order to help our youth.

Poor people are very generous with what they have. At least that was my experience growing up around other poor folks.

Maybe we should bring this up next time someone says the poor dont pay their fair share in taxes.

I disagree with pretty much every stance he has but for some reason I don't know if it will be such a pushover.

That's fair - but my larger point is; I don't think gun control is on anyone's agenda. So, to point out Bernie for it seems a little unfair to me.

What I've seen, as a liberal, is that most people want to enhance gun control in some form or another. However, the NRA and gun lobbyists are never going to allow that to happen. So we (liberals) have given up on it. If there were ever going to be a change, it would've happened after Newtown.

I'm not holding Bernie's gun record against him, I'm revealing what it actually is.

I don't really consider Bernie a liberal. He's more like a libertarian on social/foreign and he's more like a socialist on fiscal.

Following the tragic shooting in a Lafayette, Louisiana movie theater last week that left two people dead and nine others injured, Sen. Bernie Sanders called for stricter gun control measures on Sunday.

"For a start," Sanders told Chuck Todd on NBC's Meet the Press, we need "universal instant background checks. Nobody should have a gun who has a criminal background, who's involved in domestic abuse situations. People should not have guns who are going to hurt other people, who are unstable.

"Second of all, I believe that we need to make sure that certain types of guns used to kill people exclusively, not for hunting, they should not be sold in the United States of America. We have a huge loophole now with gun shows that should be eliminated. There may be other things that we have to do."

Sanders added that coming from a rural state he believes he can bridge the divide on gun control in America to find "a common sense solution" that keeps guns out of the hand of dangerous individuals.

Exactly. Anything not used for hunting? I don't know what he means. By his warped logic that would basically mean almost every pistol?

seems to me he is just tip-toeing around the fact that he wants to ban guns, but when he is called on it he can say "no I was talking about non-hunting weapons"

His understanding of guns is lacking severly. Those with a similar understanding will applaude the ignorance. Every one else will just chuckle.
