I was on my way to the bathroom at halftime (Fla vs Tenn) and a couple young Vol fans were giving Fla a hard time by saying, O I bet you wish you never came up here, I said we are up by 3 are you kidding. They can roll off 14 in 3 mins.

That game was hugely critical for Florida. To come back in the second half like that, on the road, was really an accomplishment for the offensive line, in particular. They hard worked al week on a special silent count for that game and, if memory serves, might have had only one false start.

That win gave the Gators the confidence they needed. In fact, if Florida had lost that game, I think it could have been an entirely different season for them. They may well have tanked it.

Florida completely owned us on the field. We were lucky to be in this game.

Florida's 320 yards to our 220. That's roughly a 10 point win for UF (maybe more).

That was a weird game all the way around. Florida dominated in yardage and manhandled us at the line of scrimmage, but in fact, we had more scoring drives than they did and 2 of their 3 scores came on intermediate to long passes. They kept flying down the field on us and then sputtering once they got to our 35 yard line.

so for the rest of the game we had a grand total of 70 yards. that is impressive. tennessee conservative football at its best. fulmer decided to lean on the defense and they didn't deliever. imagine that:)

It's not as bad as you think. After we scored to go up 17-7 to the point where we were down 21-20, our play calling went 8 runs and 6 passes.

i was there sitting with a ohio state fan from columbus that had come down to take in the neyland experience. he even said we went way to conservative. he also thinks we need a new head coach. some of the other fans around the country make really good sense.:) i know one series right before florida scored to take the lead, we ran 3 straight times. he mentioned he didn't realize john cooper was our offensive coordinator.

Nope, in the time frame, we did not run it 3 straight times. However, on one series, we ran twice in a row with Hardesty, then on 3rd down, THREW to Hardesty.

Hopefully Coker will turn in a Travis Stephens game and we can get positive yard age and kill some clock so are defense is fresh.

We may have an advantage on paper, but we did in 2005, 2002, 1997, etc. etc. also. Correct me if I'm mistaken, but Meyer has not yet lost a game in the swamp.

To beat the gators, we'll have to play outstanding defense, including:
- grow a couple of rock solid tackles to prevent the Teblow left/right for 4-5 a pop (I'm worried about this one...)
- get a real headhunter mentality into all of our defense to blow up their mickey mouse spread option... if we really REALLY bring the pain on some crosses, option pitches, etc., it will get into their head
- I think we should play press coverage at the line, similar to what Ark did to us this year, they got into our head with that physicality
- let me reiterate, our defense has to get full out NASTY and with attitude

This is where I disagree with alot of people. I think when Tebow has to do it all of the time...not just on thrid or fourth and short....he'll end up getting his head d*** near knocked off a few times and then those 4-5 yard carries will start turning into 1-2 yard carries. I know Tebow is a big, strong guy...but to do that over and over in the SEC with LB's that are 6'3" and 225lbs....I'll be surprised if it works as well as it did this year in spot duty.

reading some of these posts, i almost want to agree about our chances in the swamp.

what fl is losing aside, we have a little maintenance to do of our own.

new WR corp
3 "new" guys in the secondary
losing our best D lineman
losing our best O lineman

will have some experience returning on D, but the question still remains, how much will they develop between now and then? wait and see.

WR's...i agree we have talent there. but it is unproven talent. i don't think this is as big a concern as others, but can't just it will be better than FL's w/out seeing it in person.

O line...still the biggest area of concern. These guys need to grow up fast.

biggest advantages...thre capabe RB's and Ainge. won't trade a sr qb coming off a year like he just had for anything.

i'm not going to say it's a L for sure. but the FL game is one that if have to pick right now, i'm putting an L beside it.

Man.....there are gonna be a lot of dead horses lying around by the time we head to Berkeley (yes, some of them will be mine).

If Florida is the game we measure our team, and our season by, then it's high time we take a lesson from their style of play, and their coaching style. Both can be summed up in one word. Aggressive.

Aggressive wins. It won the UT-UF game; it (would have been "almost", if the fumble call had been right) won the UT-LSU game, and it definitely won the UT-Arkansas game. Interestingly enough, it also won the UT-Cal game, and the UT-UGA game.

There was a time (as recent as last September) when you could watch the first 5 minutes of a UT game, and you knew...you just knew...that UT was about to open up a can on their opponent. Back when we were aggressive.

Harken back to 1998, and the words of Phil Fulmer himself: "We don't have to be the best team in the nation every Saturday; we just have to be the best team on the field".

Where are you, "Old Phil"? We miss you.

We miss aggressive.
