It's ok in my book to not want him bc you don't think he is elite. But it's way passed time to get over how he left. We should all have one goal when it comes to this program. To win football games. That's it. If he can help make that happen then come on down.

He is the best realistic option to win football games at this moment in time IMO. I was as mad as anyone when he left. However, depending on who you listen to, he made it clear when hired that if USC called, he would go. I don’t fault him anymore, the timing was just brutal. I really believe he has a soft spot for Tennessee and has said many times it was a mistake to leave. I’ve said it on another thread, but Tennessee desperately needs his spark and his swagger right now. I really believe he could back up the talk after a couple of years of recruiting. What’s more, even if we suck due to violations and lesser talent, LK would be more entertaining and motivating for us fans than any other coach out there while we rebuild. He may not be the coach we deserve right now, but he’s the one we need. But, TN fans never get what we want so I fully expect to be disappointed.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

No to Kiffin. Stop The insanity now. He'd leave us as readily as he's left everyone else.

He's a classic, immature smartass.

Won't be kiffin. But another who has recently/or still is coaching in FL is your answer for $500 Ken.

Football and stupid petty girlfriend/boyfriend drama aren't even on the same level. This is a stupid and worn out comparison. Do you want to win football games or not?
I had a Coondog that bit my wife. She said to me "That dog bites and last week had sex with his daughter, get rid of it". I studied on it and couldn't get over the fact he treed 6 coons in one night. I did move him into his own pen and away from his daughter.

He regrets it so much that he'd be willing to do practically the same thing to OM?
:shrug

I know we’ve been in the gutter for a decade, but we still are a sizable upgrade from OM. Tennessee is a much better place to live, has better facilities, and TN is suddenly a really good state to recruit out of. While other coaches see trouble on the horizon, I think Lane would see a chance to be legendary. To be that guy that restores TN football. It’s a gamble maybe, but that guy is cocky enough and good enough to make it happen and I’m sure he believes that too. I would much rather take that gamble, than gambling that some mid major coach who had a nice season is the next Nick Saban. One more thing, there is no available coach out there that would bring the excitement and optimism that Lane Kiffin would bring during a time that we need excitement and optimism just as much as we need players.

If my dog treed 6 coons he could screw the wife.

I can’t understand this “jilted fan complex” some of our fans have with Kiffin. Short of a former player or lifelong fan, no coach that comes to Tennessee is pledging lifetime loyalty and devotion. Folks need to get over it. If he’s the best option (and ... he very well may be, because he’s a helluva offensive coach, his players love him, he’s great with fans, and he is entertaining), then we should hire him.

If he leaves for another team or another team hires him away, make the buy out $50 million.

If he gets fired for cause or poor performance, zero or a really low separation package.

If he is sincere and really wants to come to UT he would agree to this.

Make his contract so one sided, so outlandish that no one would dare hire him away or he would leave for another job.

They can word these contracts however they want.

And I'm not saying don't pay the guy, offer him $4 to $5 million and enough to get whatever staff he wants.

But we would see how badly he really wants the UT job and a chance at redemption.

We hire Lane and Ole Miss rehires Hugh. That is how you kick off 2021 with a bang.

It will always be somewhere else for this guy. USC, Florida, LSU, Dallas, Falcons, Rams. Etc.

You’re a fool thinking you’re his “dream job”.
