Kiffin is the right choice. He has a great offensive mind. He can recruit, motivate and I believe he has matured alot. He left UT to go to his dream job who can blame him for that. This guy can coach and wants the job. 3 years under Saban helped him a lot. Tennessee needs to come off of its higher than thou attitude, its all about winning. Its a shame the people who pay the way (FANS) have little or no say so. The fans spend millions to go to Tennessee games. If they hire another no name coach the fan base needs to boycott all games. Good coaches are not knocking the door down to come to UT. To get a guy like Kiffin or Freeze would be worth the risk. Hire Kiffin now.

I can see him doing the same thing to Ole Miss as he did to us.

If he is advocating himself for the job at UT, he hasn't changed. He's done it before (to us), apparently would be willing to do it again (to Ole Miss). Why wouldn't he do it a 3rd time (us again), if we hired him away from Mississippi?

That's not even mentioning the shady crap he and his staff pulled on us as they were heading out the door.

It's like an ex who who left for one of your buddies, then did it again to another guy later on. Would you give her another chance when she realizes you were better than them in the first place? Have a little dignity. . .
Or he's grown up. He knows at UT he could get the program back into elite status, and right a wrong at the same time

Basillo went on the on air (1/18) and stated:

"Lane Kiffin has reached out to our booster base and made it clear he wants the job."

"I was told this today at 2:49 p.m. by a booster. He said Lane called as soon as soon as it was official."

TIFWIW...

Maybe AD White can get it done ??
Why would he stay here if he gets an offer he likes better? He seems like he's way too eager to see the other side of the fence.

Look folks, if there are multiple Level1 issues, there will be some fairly substantial beat down from the NCAA. Just look at ND getting a year probation for some pretty minor Level 2 stuff.
We will need immediate excitement for the players/fans and today that means an offensive show plus some Spurrier like visibility in the press... who better than the KiffMan? We've all learned a lot in the last decade, but I'm more interested in the next one

Lane wanted to come back here so badly when we hired Pruitt lol. I dont get why he is so desperate. He has a chance to rebuild a nice program at Ole Miss. Maybe he feels the East is an easier path? Maybe its a true opportunity to rebuild what he helped leave broken.

But also, it could be an ego thing. Kind if like when a girl wants you to admit you want them back, just so they can slam the door in your face.

USC was probably the only job he revered more than this one. I don't blame him for leaving. I blame him for the manner in which he did it. He's offered substantial contrition for it since then. Lots of the "good ole boy" crowd won't like it
So F'ing what? That mindset has contributed to our downfall

I don’t think he’d be a bad hire. But we just hired a proven AD who’s made plenty of good hires. Let’s trust that he knows what he’s doing before we even mention boycotting a hire. Give this next coach some time before we throw fits.

If I remember correctly, Montes wife hung around Knoxville for a while
Monte did not want to leave rumor is he told Lane that they should not have left even as close as FAU. Someone did a interview with Monte and he said until this day he still tells Lane he made a mistake by leaving. Monte was happy in Knoxville and really enjoyed his stay. My opinion about Kiffin if he was to come back and could do the job the right way and wins then I think it helps his image.

I find the "coming home" part pretty disingenuous. Not even sure he even unpacked his boxes in the short time he was here. I'll take him because he's a huge upgrade over Beldar but I associate his tenure with the beginning of our dysfunction. Hopefully he's learned something but didn't Saban fire him too? Something happened there as I recall.

I don’t think Saban fired him but I bet he told him to look around for a new job.

Plus Kiffin has said in previous interviews that leaving Tennessee was a mistake, I think if he were hired back he’d stay a while
