Basilio saying Fulmer/Chaney want a new QB

Here is how I view it.....

If JG struggles out of the gate vs UTC and JT/BM get playing time because JG gets yanked, Pruitt is rolling with, whichever one he puts in place of JG, them for the Florida game.

I could see all three QBs playing in UTC and Florida game and open competition during the off week before GA

I don’t believe this for one split second. Pruitt isn’t up there to make sure JG plays QB, he’s up there to win games. And if he thought for one second one or both of the other guys gave him s chance right now to win they’d be playing.

Also, Pruitt hired Chaney to be the head coach of the offense, to run it from top to bottom. Nobody’s gonna convince me that if Chaney went to Pruitt and recommended a change that Pruitt would say “nah, we’re sticking with Jarrett”. Just don’t believe that, makes zero sense.

Finally, I wish these idiot media members would stop trying to insert Fulmer into everything in an effort to create controversy. He’s being portrayed as some evil administrator/boss trying to micro-manage everything and orchestrate his return as head coach, and there’s just no way any of that is true imho.
So you’re trying to say there’s never disagreement between coaches and that HCs assert final authority?

It makes perfect sense. JG has stunk up the first two games and appears incapable of reading Ds and making good decisions. Nothing personal. He just hasn’t improved in spite of a dream team of coaches working on him

Yeah, it's getting ridiculous. Our backups haven't even separated themselves as number 2, yet a majority here think they should be qb1. Everyone saying it can't get worse, well, yes it can. The transfer is probably the better choice, but he can't play. And everyone saying he's going to be fired is crazy too. His contract runs through to 2023. His guys are playing good ball. Butch Jones' guy's are still dragging us down. And yes, we're all aware we lost to 2 horrible teams and even freshmen should have got it done. But when your playing this many freshmen and sophmores, especially on defense, they're going to make mistakes. You can't expect veteran play from guys in their 1st and 2nd years

One in particular comes to mind (JG).

Just listened to his show.
He said that his anonymous source X in the UTAD is saying:
Fulmer is extremely upset that Pruitt didn’t get us a good transfer QB for this season.
Chaney thinks our two backups have better arms and more football IQ than JG. He wants to try one but CJP vetoed.

I know many here don’t like Basilio or care what he says.
I’m just passing along what he said.
Basilio just make s crap up not surprised you listen to his show

This should be a sticky. Everyone needs to read this.

Two guys not being able to distinguish themselves does not mean they’re terrible.

If it is true that one or both has better football IQ then there’s no reason not to give them a shot. JG isn’t getting better. They tried to give him more control and he can’t handle it. What’s the worst that can happen? By the end of this weekend UT will have played the worst three teams on the schedule. Do you think chances of wins are likely to improve behind JG? If you do you’re betting against the consistent behavior of a 4th year QB

It’s happening. This is the kind of bold leadership Barry Alvarez showed before he did the right thing and named himself the head football coach.

it's not an argument w/out logic, i can admit that.

but i can't get it out of my head that if either guy presented legit opportunity to improve the chances of winning given what we've seen from JG so far, they'd get the nod.

that they haven't yet should tell us at least something about where they are, at least this early in the season......or maybe that's just it, that's where we are in the season???

siap, but maybe now they know what is wrong with JG and can fix it. previous to these first two games, he'd done everything they wanted him to during camp and pre season/summer, and supposedly did it well.

big time disconnect from what happens off the field, to what happens on it. maybe now they know what it is and can fix it????

hope so. not sure i want a freshman making his first start in the swamp against that defense and DC.

it's been disappointing to say the least.

If Pruitt chooses to stick with JG and he continues to lose with a RS-Jr that is on him and if it costs him his job so be it. I hope he sticks around for a long time and works out for us. There is no future in starting JG at this point. What are you building? A 1 year program or a program for the future? Maybe Pruitt is afraid to start one of the young guns and they have a lot of success and Bailey has second thoughts about coming here. I honestly have no clue what is going on in Pruitt's head but sticking with a QB who is now in his 4th year in college and has shown 0 ability to develop is insane as far as I'm concerned.

Nope.

It's called boundaries. There should be a division of labor. If Fulmer has any suggestions whatsoever to Pruitt, he has crossed an important line. Doing so guarantees more difficulty in hiring coaches in the future. It is Fulmer's place the run the athletic department in general and he should have absolutely no say whatsoever in any personnel decisions.

I completely disagree. Fulmer is Athletic Director. From a leadership perspective he absolutely can have opinions about HC decisions and should convey them. Bosses do this all the time. No one is ever hired without the person who hired them being frank about the job performance. These conversations are happening behind closed doors. Fulmer has been quiet, and that's proper as well. He hasn't said publicly "Pruitt should sit JG," but it is 100% within his purview to tell his subordinate what he thinks. ESPECIALLY if... ESPECIALLY if the AC's expertise is your job. that ring on Fulmer's finger matters. Pruitt is a novice coach well on his way to going back to DB's coach someplace, and certainly spoiling his chances to ever head coach again or DC for the SEC. He should listen.

There is no future in either of these guys either. Our future QB is still in high school. Chaney and Pruitt would make three switch if they thought it would give us a chance. I truly believe that. Remember Peterman in the Swamp? Remember Dormady? The backups are always the man until they're not

There has to be an actual QB competition to determine #’s 1,2,3 based on talent. How can “backups” separate themselves when they don’t get meaningful game snaps? When our coaches have zero game tape to evaluate?

This is a HC and staff that haven’t settled on a starting OL 5 either so they rotate guys in and out all game long. At the expense of “continuity”. Yet they can’t create opportunities to evaluate JT and BM in real live game conditions?

And other than a total whiff vs Chattanooga exactly how does it get worse than getting a beatdown from GA ST and losing to BYU? Answer: it doesn’t.

There is absolutely nothing to lose atp playing JT and BM and everything to gain. Since when did doggedly sticking with JG and following Einstein’s definition of insanity constitute sound decision making?

Gonna be gut busting hilarious in here if they don't give either guy a chance to play a few snaps this weekend.

Can't wait..

The only thing i can think of that makes any sense if this is true, is that Pruitt genuinely believed he could sleep walk through GA st and BYU and UTC and knew one of our backups was possibly pretty good. He’s been eye balling Florida all summer, comments and putting up Gainesville temps all that kinda stuff.

Maybe he really does go to Gainesville and trot out a new guy to make his first start. I think that is a completely stupid idea, especially looking at Peterman and how that went. But then again, it seems like Pruitt and his players are completely blind to anything that has gone on in this program before he arrived and how things like that might look to fans that have sat here for years and watched coaches make bumble-f##k decisions again and again.

But then again, he can throw out the ole “JG was given a chance, he proved us wrong, made some decisions that cost us some games early in the season, we made a QB change after Chattanooga and rolled on” IF it goes well anyways.
