Bash Dooley here....

And this is the point that all of those I mention in the post above this conveniently (and inanely) overlook. By a wide margin, those "in favor of Dooley" are simply in favor of allowing something to happen prior to passing judgment. From them we get the vapid "Dooley sucks" posts in varying degrees, ad nauseam.

Still not sure why it bothers you guys so much that I think Dooley sucks.

Guess it all boils down to the formula of "true fans" = sheep.

You certainly are good for  post after  post, aren't you?

Lofton4Three, I have a few questions for you. Were you leaning towards the Muschamp hire? And if so, why? Because he was the top assistant on Mack Brown's staff, correct? And lets say that Saban had kept his top/favorite assistant (and recruiting coordinator) when he came back to the college ranks to coach Alabama, instead of that top assistant deciding to take a head coaching job at a smaller school and get valuable experience as a head coach. Do you know who that top assistant of the Bama staff would be? Likewise, do you know whose name would be red hot and mentioned whenever any head coaching job came open until he took one? You don't really seem to follow football too much, so the answer to the last couple questions is Derek Dooley...

17-20 and left the program still sucking as usual.

Glad your "facts" state otherwise, though.

You always tout his record as the HC at La Tech. I notice that you are also a Yankees fan. Since Joe Torre was fired by the Braves, I guess its a good thing that Steinbrenner never gave him a shot. Past performance is no indication of future results. The fact that the La Tech fan base was sad to see him go should tell you something. Remember, CUM was Floridas third choice. Saban would be somewhere else if Rich Rod had gone to Tuscaloosa. This will work out for us in the long run.

No I did not want Muschamp. Nor do I want the coach he recommended.

Meyer had success as a HC. Dooley has not.

Keep telling yourself he will do great.

Maybe cheer for a team that meets your lofty expectations. One with a coach that meets your expectations, and that you recommend. Because you are obviously a highly evolved fan that deserves better than UT.

Whoa!!

That may be one of the most compelling arguments for Dooley that I've ever seen...

How much success had Bobby Bowden had when he was ran out of West Virginia and had to flee to Florida State. PC was a two time loser in the NFL and USC's third choice. Belichick, fired twice before landing in NE. Tony Dungy and Jon Gruden have BOTH been fired by Tampa Bay. Robert Neyland had ZERO head coaching experience, same for Fulmer. Notice a trend? Reality is a female dog. So is being too stubborn to admit that you honestly dont have any idea how this will play out. If keeping that recruiting class together/ hiring Wilcox isnt enough for you in the short amount of time that he has been on the job, then I dont know what to tell you.

Since Joe hasn't really won anywhere but NY. Wouldn't his success be atributed to the level of talent he could put on the field?

Haha it always comes back to this argument for you guys. Outstanding.

Let's see Dooley couldn't recruit in a recruiting hot bed. Hmmm... LA Tech or LSU, Ole Miss, Texas, Auburn, Alabama, Miss State, TCU. Geezzz, if I'm a prized recruit where would I go?

Next...Dooley couldn't win against easy teams....Like LSU last year? LSU barely beat Dooley's Bulldogs 24-16 @ their homecoming game. Maybe your referring to Boise State. Who didn't exactly blow Dooley's Bulldogs out of the water. 45-35.

I think he did a remarkable job salvaging the recruits we got earlier this year. He didn't have time to assemble a full staff and he still brought in a great class! He also has some top talent looking at us next year.

The man hasn't coached a game yet and some are ready to throw him under the bus. This is ridiculous. We have a brutal schedule coming up. If we can navigate 6 wins I would be happy. (Yes I'm a true Vol fan) I'm just not naive to the mess that we are in. Three coaching staff changes in consecutive years...Fulmer (and I'm not bashing here) left the cupboard low in the talent pool. Give this man a chance! 3 season's and then judge. He brought in top notch coaches. I think this man is smart enough, and capable enough of bringing out the most in each player and position. He will play up our strengths and try to minimize our weaknesses. If you bashers are right and in three years we aren't competitive in the SEC East then I'll want change too. If you are living in a fantasy world and believe UT is going to reach a status of domination in the next 4-6 years...you need help. This league is elite! Alabama won't dominate forever. There is too many high caliber teams and the best coaches in college football. When 7-8 teams consistantly recruit in the top 20 and this year alone 5 out of the top 10...the conference will continue to beat each other up. Rise up guys! Support the Big Orange!!

Go Vols!! Win or loose...I'll be hoarse cheering them on.

Haha it always comes back to this argument for you guys. Outstanding.

"You guys?" How about this. "You guys" that have no ability to say anything but negative comments about all things orange take a vacation for a while. Maybe find something that makes you happy besides running down the Vols and looking down your noses at anyone who doesn't agree. That would let us all know you would be gone for a LONG time.

Love how someone tries to act intellectually superior by using smileys.

Smileys are funny. And my posts have nothing to do with intellectual superiority. I don't know you. All I know is what I read on a message board. And what I read on this message board are comments that are hackneyed, lacking in substance, and more often than not, completely miss the point of the post to which they're meant to reply... hence the use of the Alabama fan smiley. If you want to interpret that as intellectual superiority, fair enough.

So you're saying a UT fan shouldn't have lofty expectations?

Just because you accept mediocrity, don't ask me or others to do the same.

Don't bring logic into this argument.

Dodgers seem to be regular visitors to the playoffs. And how much talent was there on the 96 team? Other than Jeter. Mo was the setup man. Knoblauch, Tino Martinzez, Brosius, Jim(manslaughter) Leyritz. Daryl Strawberry on his 8th chance. 35 year old Wade Boggs. Torre did a masterful job bringing them back from a 2-0 hole against my beloved Braves. The dude is a Hall of Fame manager because someone looked past his numbers in Atlanta.

Please. You came in here trying to use the quote function like your buddy Zig Zigler does and act as if you are any different than the rest of the hicks climbing to the top of the water tower to defend Dooley's honor.
