I've said it on previous posts. I'll say it here. Personally I am going to wait and see how things turn out before I start saying this was a good or bad hire. HOWEVER, if you liked Kiffin you should love Dooley. The similiarities are uncanny. Both have less experience than would perhaps be desired for the head coach at UT. Both come from legendary football families. Both have shown an ability to recruit at a high level (DD was Saban's recruiting coordinator at LSU). Both worked for and learned from 2 Head Coaches at the top of the profession (Saban and Carroll). Both had Head Coaching experience at places where it would be tough to win anytime in the next 10 years (Oakland and LA Tech). Both have bright futures in coaching. The main difference I see is that Kiffin found it neccesary to gain attention through immature comments and untrue accusations. Dooley has decided to wait until the fall and try to prove his worth on the field.
I don't know if Dooley will work out or not. But those of you still longing for the glory days (albeit a very short and mediocre time) with Kiffin should be the very ones who are beating the drum for Dooley. We hired another young, unproven head coach who is known to recruit well!
