Pruitt " I played QB". Jarrett is our qb.
I'm sorry but I can't take any article written by SDS seriously.Jeremy Pruitt’s thoughts on quarterbacks should scare Tennessee fans
This tells you all you need to know about his knowledge when it comes to the QB. “QBs are no different from any other position.”
The scrimmage was mainly for freshmen and non starters. So not surprised HB took a bunch of snaps. I be surprised if JG even played.Interestingly, the freshman QB was the first player that Pruitt mentioned when discussing the Sunday scrimmage.
“You know, it was really good. I think we took like 49 snaps and Harrison took every one of them. For him, that was really good because, based on the way fall camp went, he didn’t get a lot of live action. We just didn’t have enough plays for him to get in there and get going.
But then there is this also
“Jarrett’s our quarterback. He gives us the best opportunity to have success,” the Tennessee coach said during his Monday press conference
Jeremy Pruitt shares details of Tennessee’s Sunday scrimmage, says freshman QB Harrison Bailey took every snap
Because there werelimited reps in Spring and Fall, JG was the best option. I hope is that Shrout or Bailey are ready after Bama. I am glad Bailey finally got to get some reps this weekend. I would not play anyone until after Bama.
JG should get some blame, but everyone had to know that Georgia was going to bring pressure in the 2nd half, so there should not have been any plays where JG holds the ball more than 2 seconds. 2 reads and if nothing there get rid of it. It should have been the playbook we used against Auburn.
This time should have been swing pass to Banks, Velus Jones and Chandler. Throws to the outside for Palmer and sometimes pitches to Chandler or Banks.
All those runs up the middle and those plays where JG dropped backed and went through his progressions should never have happened in the second half. In the second half...should have been 1-2 reads and if that wasn't open throw the ball out of bounds.
Any QB on the roster would have had the same issues. You don't throw a freshman QB in against the number 1 defense in the country to build confidence. I haven't lost hope on JG, I think everyone felt the OL would hold up better.
That would seem to be the case right now, but I think you have to look at the details of the situation. Rewind back to Pruitt's first year. He was hired right before the early signing period. He didn't have much time to put a class together so he signed Shrout and grad-transfer Keller Chryst. JG was the indisputable starter that season. The following year he fired Helton, hired Chaney and signed Maurer. We don't need to dwell in that season, we know how it went, but the QB room consisted of JG, a QB no one knew about and one who suffered 2 concussions. This season, he signs Bailey. Then covid happened. So you've got JG, a RS SO that's seen the field one game, a RS FR who is susceptible to injuries, and a freshman who's missed spring practice and most of fall camp. That to me doesn't seem like it's premature to say the qb's haven't been developed. If he is our best option, that means we must suck at recruiting and developing quarterbacks.
You can’t make that statement loud enough.Jeremy Pruitt’s thoughts on quarterbacks should scare Tennessee fans

No, I have no idea but in a post above, the info was the scrimmage was for the new guys that haven’t had much playing time. Sounds reasonable to me as well.Of course he wouldn't be happy. He nor anyone else could've predicted covid and the cancellation of spring camp. He was also out a lot during fall camp cause of quarantine due to contact tracing. Are you suggesting he's not happy for other reasons?
This crap about missing spring practice and can't play freshman is bull. Tell Ole Miss who rolled out a new QB and put 600+ yards on Bama how that is impossible.
What? No one expected us to win that game. 2 He literally just got an extension. 3 we competed with a playoff contender for a half. Pruitt ain't been given an alternative and Fulmer sure ain't looking for his replacement. WTFTrying not to read between the lines too hard here but it appears that he's telling JG that if he screws up one more time, he's gone. That's the only thing I can think of to justify putting another quarterback into the scrimmage for the entire time yet saying the key is not your starting quarterback. It looks like it's pretty much a foregone conclusion. This is starting to smell like a coach getting fired. They're not going to say it yet but they're already looking for a new coach behind the scenes.
