Bailey took every snap during scrimmage

Trying not to read between the lines too hard here but it appears that he's telling JG that if he screws up one more time, he's gone. That's the only thing I can think of to justify putting another quarterback into the scrimmage for the entire time yet saying the key is not your starting quarterback. It looks like it's pretty much a foregone conclusion. This is starting to smell like a coach getting fired. They're not going to say it yet but they're already looking for a new coach behind the scenes.
Uh, no! This scrimmage was scheduled weeks ago. It would have happened win, lose, or draw against Georgia.

Dobbs was freaky elusive and damned if he wasn't the slowest looking fast guy I've ever seen..
Always looked like he was just loping along but rarely caught from behind and surprisingly good at avoiding tackles. I really wish he could have caught on in the NFL. But, his ability to make something out of broken plays is probably more of an advantage in college than in the NFL where it's all about precision.

So youre counting UK, A&M and Auburn as wins? Hope you're right but i would be you are wrong.
I’m saying we take 2 of those games at least and lose to bama. We are a much better team and won the first half of that game. We just aren’t deep enough and lack leadership at the QB position to beat the top tier teams.

Probably the virus kept them on board this year, because nobody knew who was going to be playing. Either or both of them will be gone next year at this point. Sad because I think Maurer could have been something
They will show this at whichever team they transfer to

I think JG is (finally) on a short leash. The coaches know that 2020 is a one-off, and UT is not going to win the SEC, East or Conference. The UGA game made that point clear, and there are still some very tough tests ahead. So now you focus on (a) getting better as a team; (b) gaining bowl eligibility; (c) recruiting; and (d) working towards what will hopefully be a normal 2021 season.

The (c) and (d) goals clearly exclude JG. Both (a) and (b) can be debated. So for JG, the margin for error is small, if not zero.

I expect the UK defense to try and do what UGA did, and sell out against the run. And if JG struggles, I expect to see a change at QB. If he plays well, then I think he starts against Bama. No one with a room temperature IQ actually believes we're at Bama's level yet, and we can't go all Kiffin and give them a run in a shootout either, so...it is what it is.

If he struggles against UK, then Coach Pruitt has to make a decision. If UK can rattle him, so can 5 of our 6 remaining opponents. I wouldn't trust him against any opponent other than Vandy moving forward. And that's only because Vandy is literally that bad.

At around sunset on October 24th, this should be a 3-2 team, with 5 to play. 3 on the road, and 2 at home. I'd say only the Vandy game looks like a given win at this point, so now we're down to a 4-game slate, split between home and away, where we try to find one...preferably two QB's to pick from leading into the 2021 season. I'm not saying give up on 2020, I'm saying at some point you have to start thinking about next year, and the chance to continue to develop talent to the point where you can reasonably compete with UGA and UF...and I do think we're at that point. JG is not going to get us there this year, and I don't think he's a factor even if he's here next year. Best case, he comes off the bench for mop-up duty.

UK is the litmus test. If JG passes that, I think he starts against Bama. No point in throwing another QB to the wolves. Personally, I have nothing against him, but I do want to see a QB who gives UT its' best chance to win, and I no longer believe he is that QB.

But in any event, after Bama it's time to start thinking about the 2021 season, and finding the next starting QB for UT.

Go Vols.

I don't even see HB as the next most reasonable option. Shrout was very green coming in but was praised for having an NFL caliber arm. Maurer was a 3* who played on a very bad team but performed well at the Elite 11 camp. Those guys aren't bums.

I wonder if Pruitt isn't just trying to assure that all three guys are there to compete in March. If he sticks one of them in the game even for mop up... that could lead to one or even two of them leaving. Not sure otherwise why you don't give you back up a few throws vs Mizzou and UGA at the end.

In my opinion any QB who isn't good enough to beat out JG is more than welcome to walk to the portal

Funny how JG’s mistakes are viewed differently than Maurer or Shrout.
JG hasn't been turning the ball over in practice and hadn't turned it over in a game this season until the UGA game. He had also been making the right reads and getting the ball out quick the first two games. I can see why the coaches viewed him as the safest option. They obviously didn't think any other QB was ready to handle UGA's defense and do any better than JG. If he isn't playing great against Kentucky, I'm sure they'll have no problem putting someone else out there. One thing is for certain, Pruitt isn't changing QBs until he's ready and it doesn't really matter what anyone on this forum says.
