Baggett gone

Chaneys failure is due to us being near the bottom of the country in rushing...don't see that as baggett contributing to failure...my point is if you're Dooley, you figure out a way to keep he best hire you've made rather than siding with someone who isn't really producing any noteworthy results. Btw, I think you're a solid poster; if you disagree, that's fine.

Correct me if I am wrong, but hasn't one of the complaints with the running game been the blocking of the Wrs?

If there is undermining happening on any staff one of two things has to happen.

1) The offending staff member must conform.
Or
2)The staff member must be removed.

CB refused to conform IMO.

I think this had a lot to do with the decision for Baggett to leave.

Baggett got tired of that kid Da'rick disrespecting him. Dooley didnt do nothing about it which was obvious by the disrespectful way Rogers communicated to Bagget on the sideline at Kentucky. Dooley either doesnt have enough balls or just doesnt care.If you see an asst. coach getting cussed out by a player the head coach has to stop that. That's insubordination. That'll get you thrown in the clink in the military. In the NFL it'll get you placed on waivers just ask Albert Hainesworth. He cussed out Pepper Johnson his position coach and the Patriots said good bye. I cant believe Dooley puts up with this.
"Attitude reflect leadership" isnt that what they said in the movie Remember the Titans?
Well its no wonder the season went the way it did. Piss poor attitude piss poor leadership.

no truth in what you are saying. You have made this up if not prove it. We have enough trolls.

arnetts leaving with him, probably gonna transfer to msu and be closer to his dad who is ill according to a source close to the msu fball team

When you're trying to save your ass and not change offensive schemes.

So you are saying there won't be any offensive scheme changes next year? We are just going to do the same thing, but do it better?

You are either dead wrong, or DD and Chaney should be banned from coaching.

Guy... you used to be a pretty reasonable poster... but you are getting pretty far out there now.

Let's see... Chaney is failing, right? Baggett was not with his program, right? Because of the AHC title he could tell Chaney no, right?

So basically someone from within the program is suggesting that Baggett ignored what Chaney needed him to do contributing to Chaney's "failure".... and you think Chaney should have been the one fired?
Chaney fails just fine on his own. The running game was pathetic. The playcalling and execution of the offense pathetic, see wildcat. The routes that took forever to develop in the uk game with a qb who is injured and running a 102 fever. Yeah i'm sure baggett did all that.

I love this program and I hope dooley gets it turned around but I doubt it.

Man, hope they make a great hire to guide all this talent in the right direction

This is what Scout.com has up right now:

WR Coach Hot Board

Tee Martin By InsideTennessee
Staff
Posted Dec 1, 2011

Tee Martin
Current Position: Passing Game Coordinator, Wide Receivers at Kentucky
Age:33
Notable:Certainly being able to walk around Rocky Top with recruits and point to a street sign named after yourself is an advantage in recruiting that few can rival. Martin would have that if he returned to the school that he led to the first BCS National Championship in 1998 as its quarterback.

Trooper Taylor
Current Position:Assistant Head Coach, Wide Receivers at Auburn
Age:41
Notable:Anytime a skill position on the offensive staff at Tennessee is vacated, Taylor's name is among the first to pop up. Having served under former coach Phillip Fulmer 2004-07, Taylor certainly has experience on how to sell the Big Orange to recruits. He would also be that "cheerleader" on the sidelines that this staff desperately needs to bring energy to its young athletes.

Larry Porter
Current Position:Former head coach at Memphis
Age:39
Notable:It's much easier to get your finger on the pulse of a coach to gauge his interest in joining your staff when he is unemployed. Porter is in such a position after his firing from being head coach at Memphis.
If Tennessee ever wants to get back to the upper echelon of college football teams, it must pluck talent from Memphis and its surrounding parts. Porter, whose career started at Wooddale High School in Memphis, would fill that role nicely.

Gunter Brewer
Current Position:Associate Head Coach,Passing Game Coordinator, Wide Receivers at Ole Miss
Age:47
Notable:What staff members will be retained by the next head coach at Ole Miss is up in the air. Some coaches will not want to stick around to find out if a solid position and an offer come up.

Matt Griffin
Current Position:Offensive Quality Control Coach at Jacksonville Jaguars
Age:46
Notable:What will happen with the staff of the Jacksonville Jaguars depends greatly on how they do down the stretch under interim coach Mel Tucker. If the Jaguars go 3-2 or worse, Tucker and his staff may be shown the door. That would leave coaches like Griffin looking for a job. The former UT-Martin head coach has ties to high school coaches in these parts.

Thomas Woods
Current Position:Wide Receivers at Tulane
Age:44
Notable:While going outside the relationship circle isn't something many head coaches like to do, like Martin, Woods would be an assistant with firm ties to Tennessee itself as a two-time All-SEC selection in 1988 and 1989. In his fifth year at Tulane, Woods finds himself in a peculiar spot as it is another school with a head-coaching vacancy and no assurances as to whether or not he will be retained.

Garrett Chachere
Current Position:Running Backs, Fullbacks Coach at Arizona
Age:42
Notable:An assistant with ties to Memphis and New Orleans on his résumé would likely turn the head of coach Derek Dooley. Having played at Tulane, graduated from Brother Martin High School in New Orleans and served on the staff at Memphis, Chachere has interesting background in areas where the Vols must pluck talent. He is currently a member of the staff at Arizona. The university is hard at work to find a new head coach of the Wildcats that may or may not keep Chachere around.

I say TT or TM is a great catch either way!!! Both can recruit for UT!!! GBO

I understand the idea of wanting a replacement that can recruit, but it's more important that he can coach. Good coaching will make kids want to come play for you. I love Tee Martin, but who has he coached up? Randall Cobb? Cobb's strength was his freakish athleticism. I don't think Tee really coached him up all that much. Are there any other KY receivers that have had success with Tee? I'm drawing a blank. I'll always love him for the NC, but you don't base a hire on sentimentality.

If he's Dooley's pick, then I'll support him 100%, but I hope if he is chosen, it's because CDD believes he can coach WRs well, not because he can recruit and/or heal rifts with former players. Many former players are underminding this program. They are certainly entitled to their opinions, but they also know the weight their words carry. UT is not in a position to make a HC change and they should know that as well as anyone. Firing Dooley now would not attract any coaches. It would only send a message that you're on a very short leash here. Dooley inherited a program in the toilet. He has had little time to rebuild. Any coach asked to replace him would look at this challenge and the timetable given to Dooley and laugh in our face. If the vocal former players really want to help the university they love, then they need to be patient and let Dooley have an adequate amount of time before screaming for his head. If he continues to struggle as a coach, then I have no problem seeing him replaced, but we(the entire UT community) need to think of outside public perception as well. It's not like we have any successful UT guys out there who would take this job out of love. Chances are very high our next hire would come from outside the UT tree, so we need to make sure we send a message that you will be given some time to succeed. Otherwise, we're going to get stuck in an endless cycle of failure.

None on that list is a slacker. From Tee to Taylor but ...

Porter with the memphis area and even parts of Arkansas would help

Thomas Woods...Having a former UT WR who was 2-time All SEC player wouldn't be bad at all.

Gunter Brewer has a good rep. Has coached three Biletnikoff Award finalists. He came from OSU which in 2010 finished second in the country in passing offense.

So you are saying there won't be any offensive scheme changes next year? We are just going to do the same thing, but do it better?

You are either dead wrong, or DD and Chaney should be banned from coaching.

Im going with option number one.

I never said this.

I said he was the reason I watched. While I will admit that it would be very tough to get me into Neyland shouting GO VOLS, I have found myself pulling for you folks to win all but one game a year. That is pretty good stuff. If I could get a Vol fan to do that for UF or MSU, I would think that is pretty cool.

cBaggett is a class guy and a great coach, something he has proven for many years.

Sad day.

also, side note: My kid had a choice between MSU and UT, both were offering academic schollys. She is going to UT for free instead of MSU because she wanted to be close to her mother and I (no pics of kid or mom)

But she didnt want to, because she was raised a Spartan and a Gator. I had to talk her into it, and she loves it in Knoxville. Im not a Vol hater. Never have been. (my 2 scholly offers out of HS were UF and UT. We all make choices in life, and then have to make the best of them)

Anyways, I dont take your ripping personal, Im glad you love your school. I like your school, and I love what it is doing for my kid. But I didnt start watching UT football til cBaggett was hired. :)

Fellow Spartan fan here! It's distant, but they're my second favorite team behind UT.

When you're getting nailed 3 and 4 yards in the backfield, the receivers blocking becomes irrelevant.

See, I don't blame that on the OC's scheme. Our Oline sucked at run blocking. They didn't have the leg strength. That could change... it's an offseason issue, imo.

Take away the run, Hunter and Bray go down, insert Sims, and scheme against the SEC's best defenses. That's one helluva learning curve.

What is my argument and what are my errors?

You never answered this question oklavol. You come out, unprovoked, kicking from the back of the pack with insults, yet have no answer when called out for your lack of information to back up your bs.

I'll ask again, if I am too arrogant to understand the errors in my argument, please, explain my argument and it's errors.

Awesome. Im beginning to take a liking to this UT stuff, :) , but its going slow! hahaha. Ive never been a vol hater, so that helps!!

Looking forward to the B10 Champ Game this weekend.

Go State and Go V...V...VVVVVV.....VVVVvo. sigh. I will get there!!

I posted this in another thread but I thought it fit here too........

While I would love to have Tee on the staff my 1st choice would be.....

Rob Ianello. He just got fired as head coash of Akron, was the assistant head coach at Notre Dame, has been a great WR/TE coach and recruiting coordinator. He was rated one of Rivals top 25 recruiters several times. Tom Lemming said Ianello is one of the top-10 recruiters of the last 30 years. In 1999 he was named one of the top-10 recruiters in the nation by ESPN and one of the top six recruiters nationally by Sporting Newswhile he was recruiting coordinator and WR coach at Arizona. He was assistant recruiting coordinator under Bill Curry at Alabama in 1988-89. That staff signed 17 of the 22 starters on Alabama's 1992 NC team. He helped develop players like Golden Tate, Michael Floyd, Jeff Samardzija, Maurice Stovall, Rhema McKnight, Owen Daniels, Bobby Wade and Dennis Northcutt.

Go hire him NOW! :loco:

Is it wrong to quote yourself?

i go to msu and they are so far below UT in terms of who i root for. That elite 8 game tore me apart, while everyone else on campus was going crazy and enjoying another final 4 run

that has to be tough. My daughter (no pics) is a Spartan since birth, it is kind of rough on her at UT. But she is pretty involved so that helps.

She has an MSU Tuba cover on the wall of her dorm room. And she is FB friends with Kirk Cousins and Arthur Ray Jr, so that helps her get through.

That and being a LadyVol and having all the cool gear that goes with being a Vol athlete. :salute: She is enjoying her time at UT, but if we still lived in MI there is no doubt that she would be at MSU.

I understand how tough it has to be.
