He got rid of him probably by not backing him up against a punk receiver with bad attitude. That's probably why Baggett quit.
by punk receiver do you mean the only guy on the offense that consistently produced all year?
Seriously are all of you guys soft in the brain? If a wr coach can't deal with a single big headed wr when thats the nature of the position in the freaking first place you have a problem. I honestly think that whole thing is BS to be honest but lets just say it is and was an issue and did lead to him leaving. if it did he deserves to leave.
People are so obsessed with stars and resumes around here these days. Baggett might be a great coach or he might be the second coming of Chuck Smith (bad fit for this program). I don't condone arrogance off the field personally but it is part of the bushiness guys. If Da'Rick was putting up numbers like the other Rogers people would have a point here but when you are pretty much carrying the offensive load you get to talk some ish.
Someone please argue this fact for me. Did the numbers Rogers and Hunter (before injuries) put up this year surprise anyone? No they didn't. Even though Da'Rick didn't get a lot of snaps last year he put up decent numbers then and showed the talent was there. Not one single other WR on the team has done anything of note. To the point Dooley put one of (imo) our top 3 rb's at WR.
It is not like the other guys are without talent either all of them came in highly rated and have tools. Milton, Arnett the other Rogers and Dallas were all a bit disappointing. Are they scrubs or is there a development issue? Baggett might have left because he didn't feel he had enough support in which case he should grow a pair and man up. WR's were his job. if he was let go fro not producing then again I have no issue because he didn't in my opinion.
Folks jump all over Simms for never checking down but honestly neither did bray evidenced by the fact Darick had over 1000 yards and the next guy down was under 350. Rogers and Rivera caught a total of 96 balls for 1384 yards and 10 td's the rest of the team had 127 for 1527 and 8td's. WR's not named hunter accounted for 42 catches for 480 yards and 3td's.
That tells me that the QB only hit those guys when the play was specifically for them in most cases. Kentucky was a perfect example of it..they doubled him pretty much all game and the wheels fell off until they started calling plays specifically for Neal.
Scheme does not really play much of a role in that it comes down to the QB checking down and the WR's getting separation. I saw quite a few times where Bray/Simms/Worley forced balls to Da'Rick no matter what but more often I saw them look for other guys but they were covered.
When your wr's don't get separation consistently QB's are forced to throw into coverage and they are gonna do that to the guy they know can win those battles. That guy was Da'Rick. We have 2 number 1 WR's on the team as of now and not a single number 2 guy the rest of our guys are all slot guys. This is probably why we signed Croom and are going after Patterson. You put Hunter on the field and most of these problems disappear because the other WR's are put out in space against nickel/dime backs and safeties where they operate best. This also allows the QB's to develop trust in them. Arnett showed some flash and once he gets to own the slot next year will produce, the rest are meh to me.
I don't dislike Baggett and wish he had stayed to prove me wrong but not that mad about him going.
