Bad Bunny

You just admitted that it has nothing to do with "wearing a dress" then, just about protecting your feelings. And most good bands are anti-establishment, not "pro USA"

He most likely missed the several decades of music before androgenous glam metal was a hit, where rock bands didn't have nice things to say about the government at the time.

I don't even know who this Bunny is, but the notion of an alternative, right wing, half time show to offset him suggests that the motivation is not pure.
We have an alternative national anthem sung at the Super Bowl now.

People bothered about this are idiots and are free to do what they want.

The last 7 years under Jay Z is the the payback for having Maroon 5 and Coldplay as headliners...

Part of me actually hopes the TPUSA counterprogramming does well. I think that will cause the NFL to factor in the wishes of its core audience more than it has recently....

Why do you say they haven't factored in their core audience? What do you base that on?

Apple Music is picking it (yes, the NFL ultimately signs off but they arent going against Apple unless they have a really good reason).

The core NFL viewer does not care about Bunny, or Weeknd or Kendrick.

They sure as hell don't want to see Lee Greenwood play a 30 minute rendition of "Proud to be an American" either.

I wouldn't want to see a Lee Greenwood concert either but there has to be someone that spans a wider genre and audience.

I would agree. My preferred thought has always been to have an act that represents the region (ì feasible) hosting the game unless you just get the act that will spike the ratings (i.e. Taylor). That means LA or ATL might have a hip hop flavor, Miami might have a Latin flavor, SF might have a rock flavor, and Nashville might have a country flavor.

Of course, as long as Apple is paying over a quarter billion plus production costs for 5 years, they are going to pick stream heavy artists.

Hilarious that they're calling it "All-American" assuming people won't realize because he's brown that Bad Bunny IS American

They pretty much ruined that song for me by making it a right-wing anthem.
But I have loved it whenever he performs it at Neyland (the only non-politics zone left).

I hate current society so much.

I dmhad never heard of bad bunny a couple weeks ago and now I can't go to any kind of social media without seeing something about him. And it's because we can't keep politics out of anything in modern society.

I thought Kendrick was ok last year, but I lot of people thought he was bad. He was bland and seemed to be more interested in how he was going to get in his Drake put down.

I think Usher was the year before and he is a fabulous entertainer with 3 decades of music.

I have never heard of Bad Bunny. The name even sounds like a clown artist. I'm sure the artist has some type of segment appeal whoever it is.

The NFL would do good to move on from Jay Z. It just seemed odd when they put him in charge of the entertainment.
