Well folks. It's over. I am now unsafe (according to the pilots' union) to fly airliners anymore. My 24,000 hours of experience have left the building.
Thank you for the well wishes. I don't think Delta does that. We have had and will continue to have so many leaving that it would probably drive ya'll nuts. I would like to get into the corporate world, but only on a part time basis. I think that will be very difficult though. I do have an interview to run the simulators and train pilots at DAL for 3-5 days/month. Not my ideal job, but it will pay for insurance for my wife. Holy cow, I know that many on here know first hand, but looking at the costs of health insurance really makes one appreciate working for somebody else. Even stinking Medicare ain't cheap even after having paid into it all these years.UPS calls us anytime a captain in coming in on his fini flight. Hopefully delta did something similar for you. Congratulations on a great career. Hope you get fulfillment out of the next step, be it enjoying retirement or catching a few more years in a part 91/135 gig.
