Getting a Ford Mustang gt found a 2016 model with 13k miles for 30k. Better to get a loan through a credit union or dealer? First time car buyer here

Nice car!

See what your credit union can do as far as apr. Then Ask the dealer if they can beat that apr for the same term length.

What kind of options does the mustang have? That seems kind of high for a base model and I don't think a premium would drop that low with only 13k miles. The main reason I ask is right now you can get great deals on new 2016s. They have $1000 rebates plus 0% for 72 months, if your credit is worthy. I've been looking for months and I think I'm about to finally pull the trigger.

Do it!

It's the 5.0 V8 about 435 HP I thought new ones were 6 or 7 grand more

That's a good idea. I work for a company affiliated with ascend so there could be some perks to that. I heard they can draw my payment directly from my check when it's due and I heard that can lower my interest rate

Depends on what options you want. If you just want a base model GT, you can get them new for 30k. When you jump to GT premium with leather and such it goes up. What model are you looking at, link?

A car will be the worst investment you will ever make...buy a Subaru drive it for 300k or 15 years which ever comes first.

I disagree. Buy a car that you absolutely love and you'll never mind making the payments. When it breaks, fix it. When it's old, trade it. But always love what you buy. People only regret IMPULSE car purchases. Sleep on it for a few days and if you're still thinking about it, go get it.

Most dealers are partnered though indirect lending for local credit unions. I'm more concerned with your **** taste in cars than getting a loan

If you have the cash, that's not a bad line of thinking. Too many people get excited and put themselves in a hole, though, with car payments.

I got my fix years ago when I fell in love with a 335. I put some money into upgrades, drove it hard, and took some planned mountain and curvy drives. I enjoyed every minute of it and had no remorse when I sold it and realized the depreciation.

I'm so looking forward to driving the X3 to games this fall. The thing drives like perfection.

Those Germans know their handling, for sure.

I once got a chance to take my fathers 2013 335i to the dragon last year. I got to drive it on a regular basis since I was renting my parents house for a year while they were living in Texas in my dad's final years and they left their cars at home.

The road was wet to start the day and then dry by the end. That car was faster in the wet than any car I've driven in the dry. For a vehicle that weighed around 3700lbs it didn't feel it.

Was it the most fun car I've driven on that road? No, that honor goes to the Miata I had, followed by the Mazdaspeed 3. It did however make the strongest impression upon me. That was a car that could do it all, it was an absolute rocket ship when you needed it to be, but a comfortable sedan for all the other times.

I certainly see myself leasing one in the future.
