Automobilia etc....

Maintenance and cost. Having spent over a year at a Mazda dealership I have seen more RX-8s on the back of tow trucks than I can count. At least 1-2 a week.

I'd wager most are dip****s flooding without the 3 brain cells needed to fix it themselves

Can any one explain "back spacing" and "off set" when it comes to wheels?

Looking at new tires and wheels for my truck. Will be upgrading to a 35x12.50 mud grip

Thank you.

(I need this in country boy terms)

As I understand these they refer to the depth of the wheel from the part of the wheel that contacts the hub/brake assembly. As the offset gets larger, the wheel has more of it's depth on the inside or put another way, it doesn't protrude towards the outside of the car. So bigger offsets change the "center" of the wheel towards the outside of the car.

As you try to put wider wheels on cars with standard offsets then the wheel/tire is likely to rub on suspension parts.

So on Jeeps where people want the tires to be wider than the vehicle or just be wide in general they need smaller offsets so the wheel doesn't rub sway bars, etc.

People driving their beaters out in Rockland County today.
