Automobilia etc....

I've come to the conclusion that middle-aged men who are battling receding hairlines and beer bellies should be banned from driving convertibles with the tops down.

I would take offense if I was middle-aged.

Don't think that's being a wimp. 60-77 for me.
Coldest day in a convertible was spent in a 66 MGB. Passenger side of the tonneau cover still attached, heater on full blast, and about 30 degrees with light snow and wind. Hottest? Probably close to 100. I was younger then.

beer bellies is one thing but they are likely losing their hair through no fault of their own. ...I'm kinda sympathetic.

Also don't understand driving with the top down and all the windows up, might as well buy a car with a sunroof.

Seeing people do that irritates me to no end.

Bought my first convertible when I was still living in Alaska. Quickly discovered that the 50s is too cool for top-down weather.

owned my first convertible......quickly realized it wasnt what its cracked up to be.....I would rather have a hardtop with t-tops, targa top or moonroof.

My first car was a convertible and I'll never own another. Pain in the @$$.

What's a pain in the ass about one?

I wouldn't go out of my way to get a convertible. Like I would never get a mustang convertible or corvette convertible over a hardtop. However a car that is designed as a very is always cool with me.

Well...most of this is vehicle specific, but here are my thoughts from my experience.

Cons:
Expensive to replace
A lot of road noise
Limited view out of the back window
Smaller trunk space
Interior is freezing during the colder months
Leaks

Pros:
Not sure lol

What car was this on? Was this your only car?

What did you have? I've had a number of converts and never had those problems.

99 Eclipse Gst turbo. My first and last convertible. My dad had vetts, my mom had a Sky, my friends had Miatas and S2000's....didn't care for any of them.

That makes me:

I was just thinking back to all the converts that I've owned beginning in the mid '60's thru the late '90's. Some may have had some of your problems but I think the fun factor covered them up.
