Automobilia etc....

Not a chevy guy, so take this fwiw...

Why buy a Camaro (new) for close to 50k or a vette for 80 to 100k when you can buy a chevy SS for 38k with the same 400+ hp engine and actually have 4 doors and haul more than 2 adults?

For a young single person I can understand, but I don't think there are that many young single guys that are laying down 50 to 100k for their ride plus full coverage insurance on a 400+ hp race car with probably less than 10 years driving experience.

For the record, if i am spending 50k I would get something more reliable that holds its value a little better like a slightly used M5 or Benz, even a type S Acura or performance Lexus. Far better investment, and all of the above make sub 5 second cars 0 to 60 that you can get slightly used for 50k or less... just my opinion.

And those voodoo single plane engines in the new mustangs are far superior to the chevy power plants also...

The Voodoo 5.2 liter V8 is only available in the GT350 and GT350R. Regular GT's have to make do with the Coyote 5.0.

You make some great points. However I plan on going the used route I'll be spending between 30 and 40 grand. Probably around 35 for a car with a few thousand miles on it. I'm getting a 2016 the differences between the 17s and 16s is extremely minor and not worth the extra 10 grand

I've seen a camaro SS 2016 barely lose to the GT350 and that says a lot about where the new SS camaros are right now. That's really really good. SS>GT Camaro ZL1>gt350

The GT350/350R are giving up over 100hp to the ZL1, which has 650hp. The SS vs. GT comparisons generally fall on partisan lines, both cars excel at their intended purpose.

I know this point is lost on many people, but it's not always about which car goes faster around a track or in a straight line.

I completely agree with that. I don't plan on racing mine but if I ever do it'll be on a drag strip. The new mustangs handle brilliantly

I can't tell you how many of the new camaros I stomped in my lightly modded lightning and stock termi.

Imagine how badly you could stomp a new mustang then.

The new ones come with the blower option from the factory. I wouldn't be able to touch them on top end ( 160+)

I'm sorry, but the SS camaros, are not that impressive. The hellcats on the other hand....

A fast fat pig....

Sorry but 455HP stock is impressive. I guess you think GT Mustangs are a joke then

The new SS camaros go 0-60 in 4 seconds. If that isn't fast stock then you must drive a hellcat

That's fast man. No. I don't drive a hellcat. I'm a Ford guy. I worked for GM for 5+ years. (Hence why I drive Ford) GM just doesn't put their vehicles together very well.

Can't tell you how many camaros and vettes I worked on that when it rained the passenger side floor board would fill up with water. Electrical issues can be a nightmare.

They all have their problems I suppose.

Good luck on your purchase. Make sure you post up pics and any future mods you have in mind.

Will do. Since you're a former GM employee you probably know quite a bit about camaros. Only mods I plan on putting on are the ZL1 fenders and spoiler, performance wise borla atak exhaust, and a cold air intake. By the way I love mustangs up to about 2014. I just don't like the new style, they are quick they usually get off the line faster but the camaros catch up. Can't go wrong with either, mustangs are a lot cheaper too

Boy oh boy I love me some borla exhaust. :)

Straight pipe or die.

I think the new ZL1 will beat any American car that isn't a Corvette or a Ford GT. To be fair, though, I haven't been following the new car market as much as I used to.

Congrats man.....they are having a poker run cars and coffee shindig at turkey creek movie theater April 1st. If I had a nice fast car I would be there.
