So it's $720 more a year to drive a BMW than a Dodge/Chrysler.....

I'll take the bimmer.

I can't really speak on buying anything for image.

I buy things I like.

I've never aspired to own a lux vehicle as I've always felt it was ridiculous to spend that much on a car. The only Benz's that even catch a second look from me are the AMG models.

Short of that, buying a mid-range Benz seems pretty pointless, Imo. The entry level Benz gets a solid chuckle from me everytime I see one.

I know from experience that they are quality autos but as far as I'm concerned....bleh.

I don't need wipers on my headlights.
The entry Benz has more engineering in the woodgrain than most domestics have in the whole car. I'm using hyperbole, but there's a lot of truth.

in actuality, most of what are entry level Benz aren't evendors sold in the US.

Benz hasn't used wipers on headlights since the early 90s. Do you know why they were there? they weren't a novelty.

I'd like to interrupt everyone's **** posting and talk about cars briefly.

Those who are interested, what do we think about the possibility of a mid engined corvette?

I like the idea, but I wonder if it will cause a significant price jump.

I'd like to hear opinions on the virtues of a mid engined vette, not people just disparaging the car because they simply don't like corvettes.

a mid engine merc would serve the masses better.

Oh, that's what we can't talk about?

I'd imagine that they would be useful in a snowstorm but being from the south, I never had a notion to marvel at that option.

I'm my 20s I wasn't interested in how well engineered my car was. I'm my 30's I wanted a truck.

Perhaps later I'll be a bit more inclined towards lux as I do have a thing for Audi's but as of this moment. Bleh.

well played. Pick the brand still in the top ten to compare it to.

Well, I took the BMW and not the Benz figures. I also skipped over domestics Cadillac, Saturn, Mercury, and Pontiac on my way to #9 and #10 on the list, so I thought I was being pretty fair.

Biased would have been comparing Benz to Cadillac. That big time $40 a year....

I dig it, but it's going to be at least double the price of a normal one.

Most are destined to be locked away never to be seen outside of car shows and future action blocks.

I assume you are talking about mid engine behind the cockpit. technically you can have a front mid engine and a rear mid engine.

I think the Vette would benefit more from all wheel drive. The main reason to conside a rear mid engine is grip to the rear wheels. rear mid are inherently less balanced. 911s have had to work all kinds of adjustments to accomodate the poor weight balance. 65% rear or more.

The other benefit would be a shorter hood. I don't like driving Vettes for that reason alone.

There's literally nothing to respond to here because there's no real substance in your post. Best part is, you already know that.

Not all Mercedes are 'lux'.
If you go to Europe look at how many cabs are Benz.

The wipers were for poor road conditions where headlamps would be covered with debris, thus limiting driver's night vision. They were usually tied to the wiper washer system.

Anytime you use anti-lock brakes, traction control, and a long list of other safety features, thank Mercedes-Benz.
