I liked the idea of the squeeze with Pena at the plate. But it's ludicrous that he's in the leadoff spot.

When you talk yourself into putting a guy with a career OBP of .280 in the leadoff spot, you find yourself in between a rock and a hard place when he actually comes up in a critical spot.
 
Where did Freeman rank among all first baseman last year in terms of UZR? For you stat head guys...

Low, however....

most stat heads feel that UZR for first baseman is not useful simply because range at first isn't anywhere close to the importance of having the ability to dig balls out of the dirt, which UZR doesn't cover.

Any defensive stat that makes no attempt to figure out how well a 1B handles throws is worthless.
 
Freeman has a huge frame which is really handy. Teixeira won the 2012 fielding bible 1B award. Don't know if they have additional stuff for 1B, though.
