Schafer is 26 years old, has no power, and had a career OBP barely over .300 in almost a thousand plate appearances. A "skill set" for an outfielder that doesn't include being able to hit or hit with power is useless.

Jesus, Mary, and Joesph let me mediate this.. J Blaze has sucked big time in the past including being bad enough to get DFA by the Astros. HOWEVER. He has been lights out this year. Mainly, because he is playing within himself and not trying to be a superstar. I like him in his current role. So in essence in a way you are both right and both wrong.

He's had fewer than 20 plate appearances. His BABIP is .667. You're spinning a narrative to explain what's far more likely to be random action.

His bat isn't what I value per se. I like his speed and glove. Worthy of a 5th OF spot IMO.

Oh, I agree that he's useful as a situational replacement guy at the end of the bench. But that's it. If he were ever going to hit much he would have already done it.

All I know is turned out to be a disaster and likely cost a dubya. But J Up as you said, should've had that. He was playing no doubles and still got burnt. That can't happen.
