I'm seeing a lot of people dismissing Brandon. I don't think that it's best for him to be thrown to the wolves as a true freshman, but the kid is supposed to be a generational talent. He will eventually be the quarterback here.

I don’t think you can judge how we “handled” the portal til the roster is done. QB is being talked about ten hours a day in the coaches room. They have endless contingencies and I don’t know them.

That’s good to hear. I guess I’m just not so optimistic with the few proven high level QBs left in the portal.

Can someone pin this so we can stop acting like they don’t have plans for the single most important position in sports?

Is it being rumored he’s going to? I thought it was mentioned he knows he’s not ready physically yet and is ok with another year sitting.

If we lose out on Leavitt, there’s legit not much left out there, including the QBs that haven’t entered the portal.

Then after that, it get pretty barren until you get to the FCS ranks and even then you have like 2-3 guys that MIGHT be worth it.

Not worried either way.

I feel like the urgency for a QB isn’t what we think from CJH perspective. They have only been linked to Leavitt which tells me they had their target and swinging big. If they miss they roll with GMac who reportedly they really really like but he needs weight. He’s gained 15lbs or more so far and with a legit S&C coach could easily put on another 10-15 before the season starts and they get a depth guy.

We’re down to deciding whether WE want Leavitt with the current price tag and injury risk vs a set of unknowns beyond your list. I get the feeling the staff knows something about the”QBs who haven’t entered yet” category that you and I don’t know. Strangely the info from the staff has evolved from 75% “Joey gets cleared and returns” to “We have to get a qb besides Joey now”. I assume that means there are options I don’t know about.

Basilio threw out some BS, so not sure if I believe it, but I’m just generally speaking that if GMac did get spooked and leave, I’m not going to lose a ton of sleep. We are not keeping both GMac and Faizon long term with how the portal works, one of them is going to lose the battle and transfer. I’ll take an experienced QB in Leavitt and then let Faizon learn for a year or two before passing the baton.

In case you don’t hear it enough I really appreciate your info. You’re one of the most reliable posters on here. I’m hoping a Fifita or the Utah QB enters the portal. The Utah QB in our offense would absolutely feast!

How do you know it’s 10 hours a day and not 11 hours per day? 🤔

So the coaches are thinking that Joey doesn’t get cleared at this point? Or are at least less optimistic than they were?

Its a message board. Throw out any and all opinions that exist. Some will be wrong and some will be right. Hopefully at the end of the day, we end up with a favorable situation and at that point, wrong predictions don't really matter any more, hopefully the majority of people can be happy.

So, you think we should go into the season with 2 QB? Without Joey that would be the situation.

We are in the portal regardless of their assessment of either QB. Spring will tell everybody if GMAC can compete and hold up in his lean condition. Don’t have to guess. That skinny arm is not a problem. The rest????
