LOL I make biscuits from scratch (not a fan of bisquick biscuits) but never sausage balls. Could you tell a difference?

Until yesterday I haven't made these in years. My mom taught me how to make them when I was a kid (don't think Bisquick existed haha). Yesterday I decided to try. They were good but a neighbor said Bisquick would be easier. Obviously I rolled my eyes. Long story short...I made some using the bisquick and they were just as good.

If I was making them for Gordon Ramsay, totally different story, but for a Christmas Party.........

Yep, just remember to use twice as much flour, twice as much milk and at least 1/2 as much cheese. Whatever else you use in yours can stay they same imo.

I use...

Shredded Sharp Cheddar
Shaved Parmesan
Hot Sausage
Fresh Rosemary
Garlic powder
Fresh Cracked pepper
Sriracha Aoli (drizzled over them when done)

Does RV ever make sausage cheese balls, if so does she make them from scratch (Flour and not bisquik), what does she put in them besides the obvious cheese and sausage......

I will send her an email and get an answer tonight.! gotta run.:eek:k:

I talked with RV last night and she used to make them years ago, but lost her recipe when we moved to Florida. She said sorry Behr but then promptly asked if I would get your recipe.hahaha I just emailed her your recipe this morning and I predict I will be having sausage balls by Christmas. twss. lol.
My tummy says thank you Behr!

I love'um. They're a great finger appetizer. Until Tuesday, I hadn't made them in 10-12 years.

Cheese straws are also awesome. They melt in your mouth! A little bit of cayenne in them for just the right amount of heat. YUM! (And a lot less messy than sausage balls, lol.)

What is this sausage bread you speak of? Must know!

Behr! Recipe! NOW@!

Its something that my ex mother-in-law has made every single year for christmas. She will never give me the recipie, but it is like a stomboli but filled with sausage and cheese and something else, but it is quiet possibly the greatest thing I have ever eaten that was homemade. Ive been trying to get the recipie from her for about 10 years with no success.

Need a good recipie for sausage bread.....k thanks

Funny this came up. I made sausage pinwheels last night with the leftover sausage from the sausage cheese balls.

I normally make my dough from scratch but I had some Bisquick I wanted to use up.

This is what I would do for more of a bread-like item.

Roast a clove of garlic with olive oil. While that's roasting make the dough.

Let the garlic cool, squeeze the garlic from the skin into the olive oil, mash it with a fork and mix it with the oil.

Pour it in the dough with a little chopped fresh rosemary (please don't use dried rosemary for this), cracked black pepper and some shaved Parmesan cheese (not Kraft grated in the green can) and mix (kneed) really well.

Roll the dough until it's about an 1/8 inch thick.

Mix sharp cheddar and mozzarella cheese in with the sausage of your choice. (I like Tennessee Pride Hot)

Spread the sausage and cheese mixture over the dough about the same thickness.

Start with the edge and roll into a "loaf".

Bake it at 350 degrees until it's a nice golden brown (30-40 minutes) depending on your oven.

I have brushed it with egg wash, it makes a nice presentation but really doesn't matter otherwise.

Hope that will suffice.

haha You're not doing it right. lol:birgits_giggle:

I like Swaggerty Sausage because I grew up near Kodak, Tn where it is made and we got all our sausage fresh from the farm. Publix carries here in Florida. We also like Jimmy Dean because it has very little fat and grease in it.

That's the best part.

I like Turkey sausage grilled, but prefer nasty greasy fried pork sausage. Ground not links.

Behr, make an assessment of me. Also your thoughts on beagle-German Shepard mixed dogs.

What about race cars?
