I don't know what's wrong with his dad but it sounds terminal. FWIW, I wish DeAnthony's dad a miraculous recovery and a long full life in the face of whatever he's suffering now. I also wish DeAnthony all the best. It had to be a tough decision but he made the right one - football is certainly NOT more important than this.
DeAnthony, I realize you're probably not going to see this but on the off chance you do, I too lost my dad young (very young). Nothing will replace the hole left by a loss but embracing the memories, the love he gave, the happy times you shared, will help fill much of it if you allow that to happen. Your daddy certainly wouldn't want you to live your life in mourning so keep his memory, spirit, and love alive by living. Eventually, the lessons he taught you and funny things he said will pop up at the strangest times and bring a smile to your face. Good luck and Godspeed.
