Arkansas fans are weird

One Interesting question they asked was if you were to bet UT vs. the field to win the championship, who would you take? The overall #1 seed has not won in Omaha in something like 20 plus years. The smart money takes the field but several Arky posters said UT looks so dominant they would take the Vols.

I’d hope people don’t consider this year a failure if Tennessee fails to win the WS. Enjoy the ride.

I thought a good number of the comments were pretty rational also.
The guy who said something is amiss and did he somehow convince the best hitting coach, pitching coach, S&C coach, analyst etc. to sign on over going to other powerhouse programs is a moron. To that I say yes, yes he did. His S&C was wanted by many MLB and NCAA teams and the pull finally became too strong. His pitching coach is regarded as one of the 5 best at minimum and he’s kept him happy. As far as hitting coach goes, Arkansas should know well enough; CTV took their volunteer assistant and gave him a paid gig when DVH wouldn’t. That’s their fault and another feather in CTV’s cap for eyeing talent, it extends beyond players.

UT is now +450 down from +650 last time I looked.

20 years ago, a young, irrational cobbwebb, would’ve.
Now, I’m just enjoying the ride and what happens, happens.
Much like Rick Barnes has done for Tennessee basketball, Vitello is getting us past the point of just having a good team, he’s building a baseball program in Knoxville and I’m excited about not only this season, but the future.
In fact, I honestly think the entire athletics program is in pretty good hands at the moment!
GBO!!

It’s about 50/50. I spent my whole evening reading all 4 pages from beginning to end and about the time I get pissed off at some dumbass, a cooler head comes in with some rationale. Anyone in Arkansas referring to anybody else as hillbilly, meth heads is immediately discredited. I know most of them have never left the Ozarks or the Delta and are oblivious to the fact that Knoxville is the 3rd largest MSA in the state, yet it’s larger than their largest MSA by 150k people.

They all scared.
yes they are and why are all these sites, fans, teams talking about UT and not there team. Like I said you get in their heads you are winning the battles. The talk of the town and coming from other venues mostly. Sit back and enjoy this because if I was these guys on this team, I would be loving every second of it.

Everyone knew they lost the game at that point and once they lost Game 2, EVERYONE (themselves included) knew they weren’t winning Game 3. Casey and Co, had been there too many times and knew how to win.

It was cringeworthy, I felt really sorry for them when that happened. Yeah, no way they were winning game 3 after that.

So, we all know our baseball team is rustling jimmies all over the place this season. Arkansas fans, however, have had their jimmies rustled so vigorously that they appear to have fallen into an existential crisis, and the only way they know how to deal with it is by obsessing over Tennessee. Especially if you're on Twitter, you'll see that conversations about our team simply cannot exist without dozens of replies from Volsessed Hawg fans. In truth, it probably started with basketball season, but they've gone into hyperdrive of late.

For evidence, I submit this thread from Hogville that appears to be complimentary at the start, but it has since devolved into jealousy, hatred, and utter disbelief about what our team is doing. The latest and greatest is that one poster hopes the wood bat game throws off our mojo. :) Please enjoy the read.

I'm not sure what, exactly, is getting under Arkansas fans' collective skin so much, but I know they consider themselves baseball royalty despite never winning a title, and I'm sure it's torture seeing one of their former assistants having some truly ridiculous success at another SEC program. What's particularly funny is that many of them seem to simultaneously hate Vitello while also believing that he'll definitely get tagged as Van Horn's successor (and would readily leave our garbage program).

Regardless, it's been a while since I've seen fans of one program so completely obsessed with and disoriented by another program's success. I love it.
they were certainly rooting for that bat to be sketchy.

The Vitello thing is the reason for the jealousy and hatred at the same time. Arkansas knows if he builds it, they will come and there’s less reason for him to come back “home”. So now they have to discount his success because it’s gotten to an unforeseen level. I think they expected 2019 type seasons out of him here forever, given our “lack of resources” and recent levels of futility. That would be enough to prove that he’s a capable coach but that he still needed the resources and support of a “baseball school” to get to the next level. In all of 4.5 years he has built a team that is presently on par with Arkansas on the field; so why does he “need” Arkansas? He doesn’t; and they know it.

Tony isn't leaving Tennessee. Not when he's getting a 50 million investment into his program while earning 1.5 million base salary.

If it’s about money, there’s a chance but TonyV appears to me a lot more than money. He’s about people and if UT people treat him right, he’s here. If they don’t, no money will bring him back.

Tennessee baseball talent is extremely underrated. If TV can handle Tennessee recruiting (he can), he’ll be a contender every year.
