So, we all know our baseball team is rustling jimmies all over the place this season. Arkansas fans, however, have had their jimmies rustled so vigorously that they appear to have fallen into an existential crisis, and the only way they know how to deal with it is by obsessing over Tennessee. Especially if you're on Twitter, you'll see that conversations about our team simply cannot exist without dozens of replies from Volsessed Hawg fans. In truth, it probably started with basketball season, but they've gone into hyperdrive of late.

For evidence, I submit this thread from Hogville that appears to be complimentary at the start, but it has since devolved into jealousy, hatred, and utter disbelief about what our team is doing. The latest and greatest is that one poster hopes the wood bat game throws off our mojo. :) Please enjoy the read.

I'm not sure what, exactly, is getting under Arkansas fans' collective skin so much, but I know they consider themselves baseball royalty despite never winning a title, and I'm sure it's torture seeing one of their former assistants having some truly ridiculous success at another SEC program. What's particularly funny is that many of them seem to simultaneously hate Vitello while also believing that he'll definitely get tagged as Van Horn's successor (and would readily leave our garbage program).

Regardless, it's been a while since I've seen fans of one program so completely obsessed with and disoriented by another program's success. I love it.

Funny read for sure, thanks.
Just a quick aside….every time I visit a rival site I’m grateful for Frank and volnation. My Goodness, “hogville” is right. That site layout is a mess and makes my eyes hurt. I’m guessing it’s meant to still load on dialup? Thanks Frank for VN

The Vitello thing is the reason for the jealousy and hatred at the same time. Arkansas knows if he builds it, they will come and there’s less reason for him to come back “home”. So now they have to discount his success because it’s gotten to an unforeseen level. I think they expected 2019 type seasons out of him here forever, given our “lack of resources” and recent levels of futility. That would be enough to prove that he’s a capable coach but that he still needed the resources and support of a “baseball school” to get to the next level. In all of 4.5 years he has built a team that is presently on par with Arkansas on the field; so why does he “need” Arkansas? He doesn’t; and they know it.
