Arkansas and LSU both suck. I’m wish they both would have lost. Their fan bases are both mental cases and think their baseball teams are legendary. Go Coastal.
The difference is, LSU IS a legendary program. They are chasing an 8th title. They have some bad fans, but also some great, knowledgeable fans…and they always show out.

Between LSU and Arkansas, I’ll always pull for Arkansas.

That said, go Coastal.

Was listening to several Arkansas and sports related podcasts this morning and they pretty much all agreed that Aloy’s mistake is the most egregious of them all. It wasn’t a tough play to make. It was a routine double play. Even Kyle Peterson and Chris Burke said during the broadcast that it was an easy double play. Only Aloy really knows why he did what he did. But if he makes the play he should’ve made then the game is over and Arkansas wins. All of the podcasts this morning said the plays that Davalan and Kozeal needed to make were more difficult than people think.

Yep, and there’s no risk in going for the DP since, even if you don’t get the guy at first, having runners at 3B/1B versus 2B/1B are identical in that case, since the lead runner is meaningless when you’re up by 2.

This is exactly what they all said. Said people are focusing too much on Davalan’s play when Aloy’s was worse.

"all but admitted it"??? Hell, from here I can tell you that three fourths of the piggies would put Van Horn on an ice floe if they could get Tony. They don't make any bones about it.
i will up the ante to four/fifth

VN's obsession with Arky baseball is on another level.
It’s actually the opposite. My brother lives in NW Arkansas, and it’s crazy how they care what UT does. Their baseball analyst started it in 2021 when he accused some of our guys of using steroids. They are so obsessed that VN has paid attention and fought back.

This is true. The ones I know (two couples/families) secretly want Tony to fail.

They didn't like him recruiting well and then telling Dumb Dave to stick his bat where the sun don't shine.

Basically, they are jelli

I loathe Arkansas baseball almost as much as Vandy. But I don't think we can make a lot of judgments about his character based off of that. Although part of me is like, Chris Webber had to go out there and answer a bunch of stupid questions from media clowns about calling a timeout, so if he can do that, then guys like Aloy should have to as well. But maybe in the direct aftermath of critical mistakes in huge moments we shouldn't be demanding that guys in their late teens or early 20's go in front of a room full of media so they can relive their worst nightmares.
It’s very difficult, but if you want to be a pro, you have to do it. I lost any respect I had for Steve Spurrier when late in his career, he wouldn’t answer questions after a loss. The game we came back and beat them, he made a brief statement and left. He could yuck it up and make jokes after a win but couldn’t take questions after a loss. True pros do it. Everyone loses.

Not sure if the coach did, but the social media post from the post game press conf I saw, Eloy didn't even go out for questions.

His nameplate sat in front of an empty chair...speaks volumes about character to me.
FWIW they said that the PC started early and Aloy wasn’t there yet so when he got there they told him to just not come to the podium so he didn’t interrupt it in the middle.

Yep...vandie is the most hated in this house. Insufferable in every way.

I get some of the old school coaches pushing the agenda of Tony and UT being too aggressive, especially in 21. We were over the top and even many of our old school fans didn't like it and expressed it in person and on here. Old school coaches think the game should be played with no player getting recognition, especially being a "showboat" in their minds. There are also an unwritten set of rules and things that are "bush league." And we pushed the limits of most of those. That might be an offseason thread of what are the bush league or unwritten rules of baseball. The old school guys would be fine with you throwing at a batter but not fine with a bat flip. I will say they also coach that way with their own teams. They are fine with Root jumping Fischer but not fine with Fischer bat flipping. I've watched DVH and Corbin jump their own players for antics as they say. I can live with a guy who is consistent either way. Whether you are old school or pushing the limits is fine with me but you have to be consistent with the other team as well as your team.
Good stuff here. I will insert an observation that I’ve noticed that has evolved over the last 5 years. I grew to dislike the antics of MLB players about 10 years ago when some of them began some really questionable celebration and taunting. For example, the Soto shuffle was just not good, or so I felt. Quit staring down pitchers in every at-bat. Conversely, 5-10 years ago I loved college baseball because it was “pure.” Players busted their tails running to 1st. They hustled off the field. They played the game in a respectful way and respected the other team.

Now, the tide has turned. I’m not against celebration and done in an appropriate way, yeah, enjoy that home run trot. To me, college baseball is becoming less enjoyable because of the constant turmoil on all fronts. It’s excessive to me. I can watch the Cardinals and there’s very little of some of these issues on most days. MLB has very little over-the-top on a daily basis. Rarely a pitcher cussing out a batter or vice-versa.

Agree, if you are not getting paid for your job protect them until they become pros. If they are out there collecting & soliciting a salary they are considered pros and out there for public consumption, which in a round about way pay their salaries.

I’ve read all sorts of “Arkansas baseball is cursed”, “God hates us”, etc. The misplayed foul ball that would have won the WS if caught against Oregon State and now that 9th inning last night against LSU that would have at least forced a 3rd game with winner advancing to the final. Not a Hogs fan but what a gut punch (again)!
I was hoping Arkansas won it all this year. What a disappointment for them. They made 3 blunders in that last inning to lose that game.

They did indeed. Three no less....what in the world?

Before they jogged onto field for bottom of ninth, Coach Dave screamed out..."DON"T MAKE ANY ERRORS YOU MORANS"

They were so tight, you couldn't have pulled a tenpenny nail out of their a-hole with a claw hammer

after watching the “Taylor made double play ball” several times I’d agree in a normal situation a DP would prob be correct. CLEARLY….hes moving away from 2nd base to his right and the play at 3rd was right in front of him. There’s zero guarantee the DP would be made and involving a 3rd player in the play ups the possibility. Do I think he makes the DP if he decides to try? Probably. But to pin that entire loss on him IMO is simply unfair. We are kinda acting like this kept the HOGS from a National Championship. They still had a massive mountain to climb even with a win. JMO. And LSU certainly did not play its best ball either in that game.

It’s tough, but I think the moment got to him. His brain said “make sure we get an out, and the lead runner is the best out.” But in a regular season game, you wonder if he attempts the double play. Pre-pitch you have to be aware that the runner on second going to third doesn’t matter. Even if they don’t turn the DP, you have first and third and a force at second for the next batter. If he had to field it in the hole, then third was the play. But that was a tailor made DP ground ball.

Certainly, other plays could have been made, but once I saw that live, I had a feeling it was going to haunt them.

I agree prob regular season he tries the DP. I prob have a narrower opinion of a Taylor made DP but at any rate Arkansas wasn’t going to win IMO. Such a narrow edge in the talent level at this level. It’s the small things that turn the tide. I actually think that personifies our season this year. But to lose in the super regionals on the road…hard to complain much.
