Aloy’s defense carried him a long way too IMO. A little ironic though since his last play probably cost Arkansas their game against LSU not going for the double play. How in the hell did Aloys numbers beat Fishers. I think Andrew was criminally underrated all year. His numbers are as impressive as Aloys
The thing is that the lead runner meant nothing. Turning 2 could have ended the game, but would have kept the tying run out of scoring position had they only gotten the out at 2nd. That's the smart and fundamental play.after watching the “Taylor made double play ball” several times I’d agree in a normal situation a DP would prob be correct. CLEARLY….hes moving away from 2nd base to his right and the play at 3rd was right in front of him. There’s zero guarantee the DP would be made and involving a 3rd player in the play ups the possibility. Do I think he makes the DP if he decides to try? Probably. But to pin that entire loss on him IMO is simply unfair. We are kinda acting like this kept the HOGS from a National Championship. They still had a massive mountain to climb even with a win. JMO. And LSU certainly did not play its best ball either in that game.
I think you’d agree (and I been guilty of saying this too) CLEARLY that run meant something. IMO there’s many different issues in that inning alone. The low hanging fruit is going to third instead of attempting a DP. Having play much ball in the past, as many of us have, turning a DP there was NEVER a sure thing. I understand all the ramifications of a DP in that situation. I just can’t blame losing that game on a kid for making the play in front of him. Baseball, as much as any sport, is determined by little things. But it’s a good discussion for sure. The thing is that the lead runner meant nothing. Turning 2 could have ended the game, but would have kept the tying run out of scoring position had they only gotten the out at 2nd. That's the smart and fundamental play.
It’s actually the opposite. My brother lives in NW Arkansas, and it’s crazy how they care what UT does. Their baseball analyst started it in 2021 when he accused some of our guys of using steroids. They are so obsessed that VN has paid attention and fought back.
The football “hate” seemed to be stronger in the 90’s when we played every year, compounded by the stoernover in ‘98. I don’t really get the sense that it’s as strong as it was then, but it’s definitely moved to baseball under Vitello. Ole Miss and Mississippi State hate each other so there may not be room for anyone else but Arkansas doesn’t really have “that” rival so everyone seems to get it from time to time. Being the only major in-state school, I always hear that Arkansas fans hate anyone who isn’t Arkansas lol.Two border state schools but are on opposite ends of each respective state. Over 10 hours of driving.
I’ve never understood Arkansas’ hatred for Tennessee. IMO, this goes further back and beyond baseball. Living where we are in the Memphis area, I think Arkansas fans dislike UT more than Ole Miss and Miss St fans.
