You are right they are better than ever. They were 11-2 last year as an FBS school not an FCS school like before. We should win fairly easily but Appy State isn't a push over.
I will say this about App St...
They're better than South Carolina, Vanderbilt, and Kentucky.
I'd bet money that they'd beat those 3 teams.
It's always interesting to see what fans of the smaller programs are saying. I've done this with Appy State myself, and to their credit, most of what I've seen have been reasonable fans who of course want to win every game but have some realistic perspective about this one. There are, however, several fans of theirs that don't understand the immense and overwhelming talent gap difference from top to bottom in this game. I expect a well played game by them strategically speaking, but let's be real here.......this will more than likely not be close at the end. Great fans though from what I've seen!
I can't think of a stranger OOC road game for Miami than at Appy St. I mean Boone is beautiful town way up in the mountains, but it is about as far from Miami, FL as you can get.
Miami was desperate to fill their 2016 schedule at the last minute, and our AD convinced them they needed a home and home with us. :good!:
Their fans have loved commenting on our "high school" stadium. Of course, I'd rather play before a full 25,000 stadium than mostly empty 77,000 stadium any day.
No. They wouldn't.
You can respect their program but they didn't beat a single team last year that was worth a dime.... and only played one.
Unless UT just lays an egg, which I DO NOT EXPECT, the Vols will control this from start to finish. ASU's chances of scoring depend on how early UT goes to a line up made completely of back ups. This is PAST 3 deep in some positions.
Thanks for the links. Would be nice to know the best free message boards for all of our opponents.
Those of us who know football (most of the real fans) are well aware of the significant difference between the top of the Sun Belt and any team in the SEC. Yes, we do want to win every game. Our coaches, including TN's own Dale Jones, are a good bunch. I expect we'll lose a coach or two each year if our G5 success continues (our OL coach left this winter for NC State).
At the end of the day, I know it's nowhere near probable that we'll beat UT. I also know that the little guy wins sometimes.
I'm looking forward to my first trip to Neyland on the first. See y'all in Knoxville!
