They'll be worn out by the start of the 3rd quarter.
This isn't app state of years past.

Doesn't matter if they're the Appy St of the past, present or future.....they won't stay within 4 tds of Tennessee. I think it winds up something like 48-10

That interception he made against Alabama in 85 is still on of the greatest plays in UT History! He was a baller, would love to have him back in Knoxville if the situation ever allows! Honestly, should already be there!

Thanks..if anyone gets a chance to take in a game in Boone..it is a great experience...I went over one weekend to buy one of those Big House upset shirts and met some great folks

Truly a great time and football atmosphere in Boone. Saw them play the Mocs a couple of times there. Really special, I wish they had never left the Southern conference.

App alum here.... I know, I know, it isn't 2007 and you guys aren't Michigan. However, I will say this. We are just now getting up to 85 schollies and are only in year 3 of making the transition to FBS football.
We have a very solid qb in Taylor Lamb (31 td's vs 9 int's last year) and a strong stable of running backs led by Marcus Cox (ran for 1400 yards last season as a jr). What we are really excited about is our stingy defense. Love Coach Jones even if he is a UT alum. Yes, you will likely beat App on September 1. However, you will know that you have played a lunch pail mentality team and may want to spend a little extra time in the whirlpool on Friday.:)

No, there's no "likely beat App". We're gonna beat the hell out of you. Good luck the rest of the season, but Tennessee will beat the snot out of Appy State and then whip their ass for having a runny nose on September 1. And it's your little rag tag bunch who will be limping out of Neyland and counting it's wounded after the game....while the Vols begin preparing to play some big boy football the following week in Bristol. The only thing Appy State fans need to be doing is be thankful for the big payday, take their ass whipping like men and stfu.

I know Lamb is the coach of Calhoun son but, who was the QB that came with Rodgers from there that transferred out after a year?

But seriously, KB, tell us how you feel about this. :)

Appy state fans don't sound as confident as Utah State fans from a couple years ago.

I got into it with about 5 USU fans, they talked SOOO much, I couldnt believe there was people that passionate about USU football, that win felt a lot better than it should have because of them though

This one was surprisingly active:

Appalachian Football - Mountaineer Message Board

Most App St. fans seem to understand a win against UT is not very likely. However, a few are more optimistic:

"Honestly!!! You really think that Tennessee is the Clemson of last year. They will not win the SEC east.
3 losses on their schedule: Georgia, Alabama, and Florida. All every in the year. Also, At Texas A&M.
I think tennessee is overrated. If App does find a way to win, then Tennessee will be lucky to make a bowl game.
Just saying."

Another decent forum:

The Rock - AppStateMania.com Forums - Scout

For whatever reason, a uga fan made his way onto the forum and started a thread specifically for the UT-App St. game.

A snippet:

"Hopefully you guys can get some turnovers as Dobbs doesn't always make the best decisions.
Best of luck though. Seeing you guys beat UTk and the dejection on that overhyped fan base would more than make my day."

They do have some excellent herb up there, it's apparent by their posts..😂

I think App State is a great team in their tier, and they have a great shot of winning the sun belt. I think there are some bottom barrel SEC teams that App State certainly has a chance of beating. Although, Tennessee has way too much talent for this to be close.

Now, the last time I checked UT was a 22 point favorite. If I remember correctly, we panicked quite a bit after beating bowling green by only 29. And we saw how successful of a season they ended up having. So let's not freak out if it isn't a 40+ blowout. This isn't UT Martin.

Good point

i think Taylor is actually Hal's nephew or something. Trey is his son. He played at TN Tech.Youre thinking about Nash Nance

You know what JP, I'll listen to the argument that we better be ready for Georgia, Florida and Bama, I got no choice there.

But I'll be damned if I'm gonna hear anything from some far inferior program who's only playing us so they can fund their athletic department. No, it'll be their second and third tier players who couldn't even sniff a damn offer from a school like Tennessee who's gonna need the ice baths come Friday morning. Appy State has no chance to cover a very sizeable, damn near disrespectful spread unless Jones empties the bench mid 3rd quarter. Period.
